I hate cults. I don't like organized religion at all. I don't think any gods exist, and the Bible God is an evil asshole.
That being said, I like me some gospel as well. I quite like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir....well at least some of their songs.

Goose bumps all the time. (No that's not my skin crawling of due to looking at brothers and sisters from another ''mother")
Oh and is "Hallelujah" considered gospel? One of my all time favorite songs...
Anyway thanks Simon, now I wasted my afternoon youtubing choirs and gospel :-D

Some good choices!
I personally love being in the car when my jw goes through the stations and finds a catchy tune only to have to turn it off because it is a Christian rock song. I never say anything, just turn my head and stifle a giggle.

I have a confession to make: I am not a christian anymore as I no longer believe in God or the bible. However, I still enjoy listening to the Christian radio every once in a while. More than often, their talks are basically motivational speechs where God could easily be replaced by "if you only believe in yourself". And "pray to God" could be replaced by "meditate on this and that". I often thought I could be a motivational speaker myself and I could use whole christian speeches as source material.

I quite like some Motown and 'Black American music' (my mum loved loads of African-American artists - Whitney Houston, Marvin Gay, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores, Dianne Warwick, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight - you name it). Some of their songs were a part of my childhood.
Some of that was/is heavily influenced by gospel. Some singers started out singing in a gospel choir.
Me: "why do you like black singers, mum?"
My mum: "because they sing from the heart."
