It was part of a PR campaign because the Bible Students were leaving the WT in droves and they needed to attract people so at first they said this generation will not die then changed it to 'may not die.'

It took a powerful hold on those that were attracted to the concept and then the WT realized that that generation was going to die. They had to postpone the news that they made it all up.

Russell had predicted a few different, earlier dates, before he set on 1914 as the end of the world. The others were obviously wrong, nothing happened. In 1914 World War I started. Lucky Russell! They have basically found creative ways to string people along for over a HUNDRED YEARS AFTER 1914. They often changed how long a generation was supposed to be. And then they kept changing how old someone had to be in 1914 so that they would be old enough to comprehend what was going on. Toward the end they could be 4 years old in 1914. When it was 100 years after 1914 and obviously that generation wasn't around anymore, they had to try to give themselves time SOMEHOW. So David splane did the weird unbiblical crossover generation thing. Which could conceivably buy them 80 more years! And you know, don't question them, because they are always right.

You write, you read that some people waking up by the overlapping gerneration. It was a start for them I think. I don't know how and what you research. But you write, you like to "learn as much as I can to help me solidify that the org is a lie". So start at the start. One thing I see, much people don't research is 607 b.c. Did you read Jonsson? It is the base for so much: the nearly end, the GB and much more. So if you research this toppic in deep, then you see that people they don't elected tell you bs.

Ha! How "timely". I had an elder approach me not too long ago and set up a shepherding visit. I know he's going to ask if there is anything he can help with and I fully intend on asking for help explaining this teaching to me, and showing from the bible where it's coming from. I'm hoping my spouse and/or other family members are within earshot of this episode.
