All you can do is reason from the scriptures, which you appear to have done. Homosexuality is as serious as bestiality, or adultery and fornication. Actually, the Bible describes homosexuality as a greater sin than adultery or fornication. The reasoning is that the desire for same-sex intercourse is one "contrary to nature" according to Romans 1:24. At least with heterosexual fornication the wrong doers are acting in harmony with the natural desire for the opposite sex.
Homosexuality is not comparable to bestiality because bestiality is a form of abuse since, unlike 2 consenting adult humans, animals aren't able to give consent to humans.
Saying that homosexuality is as serious as adultery, is like saying that heterosexuality is as serious as adultery. Adultery is the wrong of a married person (whether homosexual or heterosexual) having sex with someone other than their legally married spouse(s) (whether gay or straight).
Fornication is just sex outside of marriage - again it applies both to gays and straights.
Same-sex intercourse is only "contrary to nature" for heterosexuals - the same way that heterosexual intercourse is "contrary to nature" for homosexuals.

Apart from the occasional narrow minded redneck JW, it has been my experience that most JW's blame "imperfection" as the reason we are inclined to do sinful things. This includes our inability to control our biological urges, Heterosexual, Homosexual or otherwise.
The reason that Homosexuality seems to be treated the harshest even though the punishment from God is the supposedly the same, is because heterosexuals can't wrap their minds around what physically has to take place during the sex act between homosexuals. The Watchtower comment above makes it easier for them to justify them going the extra mile when it comes to treating Homosexuals harshly. It almost seems as though Pedophiles get more slack from the Watchtower Society, than Homosexuals do.

My earlier years in the organization there were two ladies the wife and I were close to.
They lived together, pioneered , many studies and aided many to baptism. One study I remember
they had was a ex porno worker, she was baptized.
I told the wife one day, those two sisters are gay, and she said Oh no not in Jehovah's organization.
I was told years later they were both DF.
Now the funny thing about this, they were instrumental in aiding others into this loving organization.

According to the Bible, ( ahem....) there is no rating system for sins. "Sin", merits death, THE END. You can be repentant for any "sin", it doesn't matter if it was murder or tax evasion.
Also, you cannot be DF'd if you are "repentant", not officially. Only "unrepentant wrongdoers" [ Seriously, who the F*** talks like that...] are DF'd. In theory, Hitler ( I hate to use him as an example, but some people's minds just demand to hear about Hitler...Jesus H.......) could have become a Dub, repented, and been in good standing. As for homosexuality it's never given as a higher sin. In fact lying(giving false witness), not respecting your parents, adultery, etc are all given the same weight.
