Euphemism, I could the WT. instructor not teach WT. dogma and only the Bible?
Like I said, that was at pioneer school. The instructors there have a lot of leeway.

Do you know if this guy's still a Witness? .......I pioneered but never went to school, rats.
Good experiences? Sure, no problem.
One brother introduced me to single malt scotch, cognac, and other good drinks. Microbreweries too! We often went to strip bars, where he would sometimes get on stage and dance with the girls. Amazingly enough, he never got thrown out!
There weren't nearly enough guys like that in the org.

Canadians are cool.
I've had alot good experiences, but I'll relate this one.
The couple my husband and I studied with adopted us into their family like one of their kids (we were the same age as their kids, we were 19 and 21 at the time). They were like parents to us (mine were 300 miles away, I really missed them). The congregation that we were baptized in had alot of young people and young couples in it, we were always included right away (before being baptized), we all went everywhere together as one big group, no one was excluded. It was one big social event. Don't remember clicks in that congregation, it was great, they were a warm and friendly congregation, I remember everyone was always willing to help out if anyone needed it. We moved cross-country from that congregation 27 years ago, I still miss them and have a special place in my heart for them. Probably if we hadn't moved out of that congregation I might still be in the borg today, but like people, congregations change, they are probably like all the rest now.

It is true that some congregations are nicer than others. I've only been in a total of 3. The last one was the better of the 3 because there are some genuinely nice persons there. Over all, the Hall is a nice one (in spite a few of the elders).

He's still CO in my old cong, so he must be... I'm sure I would have heard about it if he'd left.
I don't see him leaving... he was 60 years old, had been a missionary, raised a kid, and entered the circuit work with great reluctance. (He felt that most COs were arrogant taskmasters, and he didn't want to be lumped in with them.) Apparently, he's somehow made his peace with the organization, despite everything that he knows is wrong... he's decided to stay, and do what good he can. I respect his decision... he did a lot of good for me personally, and I know for many others as well.
Well, there was this one time when we called on this lady, blah blah blah, yap yap yap, bible study, blah blah, read her a scripture, yak yak, baptism talk, yadda yadda, I was sooo proud..... oh, wait, you didn't mean that kind of experience did you?
As far as good(??) memories, I've got a lot of them, but they are so jumblied up right now in dubbie stuff that I can't answer really well. I mean, what were the good experiences "as a Jehovah's Witness" and what stuff (like with my family or a few friends) had nothing to do with witnesses, and would it have been better or worse if I were not a JW at the time? I mean, those hot summers where we went up to the river after service and played at the swim hole and the rope swing surely was a better experience because we went out in service all day first until we had heatstroke, then rushed up to the river to swim for 30 measly minutes, then loaded up again to get home for dinner right? The whole experience would have been so diminished if we had spent half the day up there, huh? AND you know we all had a much better time because our swimsuits were so modest. Uh huh, no bikinis for us. That would just wreck everything. LMAO! Bitter? who me? Obviously, I still don't have any perspective on certain experiences yet. Who knows? Ask me in a year.
The congregation gathering thing is true. The big group activities have been actively discouraged for about 10 years or so. Recently though, I have been told by family that the last C.O. visit they talked a whole bunch about the need to SOCIALIZE as a congregation and individually. I guess the old "no gatherings" policy hasn't been working-LMAO and people have been going *gasp* outside to get a little social activity. SOOO, my family NOW thinks that that solves all my problems, and I can COME BACK. AAAARRRGH!
(not trying to hijack the thread, really Min. Haha.)

I remember one experience of a young man that gave up a fantastic scholarship to pioneer. Today, he still doesn't have a great job but everyone in thr family are still Witnesses......That's a good experience, right?

the only thing I really miss is the dancing. There was a lot of dancing at parties. No one seems to do that unless at a bar, and then it's just a bunch of drunken college students, and they are more interested in grabbing booty rather than shakin' it.
