    The site is stupid.

The US is supposed to be a democratic (democratic republic?) nation. We also have a freedom of speech. Put those together and idealy, we have an opporitunity to not only see things that are wrong and unjust in our nation...but have to opporitunity to change it! This country (the US) and others like it are wonderful in that reguard...but certainly not expemt from imperfection because of it. There ARE a lot of problems going on right now that need to be changed, and there are freedoms of ours that are at risk of being infringed up on. If enough people voice their thoughts, they are not hating the country...they are showing enough consideration and care for it and see the things that need to change to make it better.

    /steps off soap box.

Ok so let me get this straight...someone says I hate living here and I want to leave....they give them a free ticket to leave....and that is a bad thing? That is infringing on their "freedom of speech"???

    Xena,

Its not a bad thing. People like simon, etc, etc, are changing the argument into one more to their liking. No one is kicking anyone out, no one even mentioned it other than simon and a few other like minded ones. No one is saying anyone should be silient or forced to leave. I just want to know why these people stay here if they hate it so much. I would leave in a hart beat if I was so 'oppressed' and countires with greater 'freedoms' were just a boat ride away.

Most of the hate america crowd are completly full of dung.

Funny ...is it Mars or what making people loony yes the website is funny and what is the harm. They are not advocating booting people that want to stay they are just saying hey if you'd be happy elsewhere (no not you elsewhere) then go.

Yes I think it is a hoot that the web offers this type of service and as I was saying I wonder if one can use it to take a free vacation every yearAs for the ones that have issues with it <sigh> can you see the humour in anything right now.

I though to myself, then why stay. It's an honest question, if you hate this country if you feel you are oppressed why stay. If I was 'oppresed' and would be treated as an equal in Eygpt I would be on the boat by noon.

Exactly .... if you don't like it, go elsewhere .... make some other country your object of complaints. Liked the tongue-in-cheeck website... very funny, although too many people here seem to take it too seriously because it's not ridiculing the country. Different strokes for different folks.....

It must be mars. Either that, or this place turned into a retirement home for grumps who need some prune juice.

As an Atlantic Canadian, I wud like to sincerely apologize to you for the sordid treatment you rec'd at the hands of Canadian Immigration. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT sell your home here. We loveour American cousins, and are equally angered by the policies put in place by BOTH of our countries re border crossings.

The US actually had the nerve to place their own people in Customs here because they accused Canada of allowing many terrorists access to yr country via our unprotected border. Was I p'd off? You bet! GWB administration just won't take responsibility for anything. OTOH, it is wrong for our government to retaliate by persecuting innocent travellers like yourself (and may I say, HUGE contributors to our economy).

as for your 'cold' Canada comment, ahem.... I live south of Buffalo, Chicago and Detroit. I've been to Buffalo in the wintertime, and trust me, it's a lot colder than here and gets about 10 times the amount of snow.

and yes, I AM A CANADIAN.

Let's dispel the myth that all Canada is cold!! The temp here has been over 85F for the last 6 wks or so. Half of British Columbia doesn't even get snow in winter, for cryin out loud.

Come see us sometime, you might 'pleasantly' surprised. And don't bring your skis, we don't get cold enough weather here in Nova Scotia - the ski hills are all going broke!!

Personally, I'm all for people complaining about the government and its policies. It's called a 'democracy' where we have 'freedom of speech'. We all pay taxes, and have the right to b*tch once in a while.

As for the Egyptian woman on TV, I saw a similar interview. The show was about the treatment of Arab-Americans since 9/11. We have had some very bad behaviour here as well. The Mosque was desecrated, people have been told 'Arab, go home', etc. It disgusts me. The woman I saw interviewed was expressing her sorrow at being vilified in a racist manner, and I thought she was absolutely right in what she said. Her comment just told me that at least in Egypt, the 'person in the street' would treat her as an equal, not as a 'filthy Muslim terrorist' just because she is of the Arab race.

    peace, love & happiness
