There is this one too from 1995 immediately preceding the change. The only difference from the one before is the word "important" instead of "importantly". I wonder how many committees were required to make that change.

I love the way that the most specific part of the above blurb was subsequently removed without comment; namely, "...before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away."
And, yes, the current Awake inside cover now has no time-lined blurb at all - obviously there's no mention of the overlapping generation doctrine either!
This is an organization that has used its private interpretations to generate urgency in its message - then, when time keeps passing and it becomes obvious the generstion that saw the events of 1914 has passed away, simpky deletes all reference to it.

Steve, they also removed the blurb from 1987 to 1988... I think that they use the new formatting (in 1987, 4-color printing was introduced, in 2013 they changed formatting too) to remove that.
But it's amazing how the changes went. Like Paul said, wonder how many meetings went on just to change "importantly" to "important".
