But Urantia was written in the 1950's, right? Hardly a credible source. It's not like testimony from someone that was there, right? You believe what you believe, it doesn't matter to me, but I think Cofty and Simon were looking more for writings from Jesus' contemporaries.

From Wikipedia
The Urantia Book (sometimes called the Urantia Papers or The Fifth Epochal Revelation) is a spiritual and philosophical book that originated in Chicago sometime between 1924 and 1955. The authorship remains a matter of speculation.

Now the ridicule starts. So typical. For your information, The Urantia Book is the only quasi-religious book that effectively answers all questions and issues of atheists. So it is understandable why atheists might not want to read it and choose to ridicule it instead.
And, fyi, it was written by contemporaries and eyewitnesses, but not type a non-believer would accept. But certainly the type that would be required to know the things it covers.
Anyway, have a good day my new friends. I’m going to spend time with my grandson!

Douglas Adams' "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" does it much better.
Spoiler alert - The answer to life the universe and everything is 42.

Wow, the gospel accounts were written something like 90 years after the people supposedly in them had long died so that must be more gospel-then-gospel.
Amazing how it was hidden for all this time but now you have discovered it and have the truth. Just incredible. And then you found us and can share this fantastic knowledge that once and for all settles beyond doubt the question of whether Jesus was real and god exists. We're just so blessed.
Or it could be written by another nut I guess, there is that chance.

How Did the Urantia Papers Come to Be?
The midwayers influenced the celestial supervisors to initiate the petitions leading to authorization for the revelation to be given.
"Their chief work today is that of unperceived personal-liaison associates of those men and women who constitute the planetary reserve corps of destiny. It was the work of the secondary group, ably seconded by certain of the primary corps, that brought about the co-ordination of personalities and circumstances of Urantia which finally induced the planetary celestial supervisors to initiate those petitions that resulted in the granting of the mandates making possible the series of revelations of which this presentation is a part. But it should be made clear that the midway creatures are not involved in the sordid performances taking place under the general designation of "spiritualism". The midways at present on Urantia, all of whom are of honorable standing, are not connected with the phenomena of so-called "mediumship"; and they do not, ordinarily, permit humans to witness their sometimes necessary physical activities or other contacts with the material world, as they are perceived by the human senses." (856.6) 77:8.13
You can believe anything that you want, but please don't poison the mind of your innocent grandson with such blatant foolishness.
