He rips into his father so harshly that it’s difficult to find much sympathy when he waxes on about how he won’t see his granddaughters. If he’s as bad of a man as Lloyd suggests then what’s the huge issue here? I also find it damaging to young children to tell them their grandfather refuses to see them. It’s only half the story anyway because Lloyd insists he sees him as well in order to see the kids.

Thanks, RF and LMsA. I’d once been stunned to run across a short account on reddit that mentioned two of my relatives. It was before I woke up,... and before I would read absolutely anything “apostate”. I’d Googled the names of my relatives, and found myself reading about them and also my previous circuit overseer. I’d had no idea anything like that could be found on the internet.

Controlled opposition? Lloyd is his own man, defective, mentally off, and disgusting. Controlled opposition isn't the Watchtower's way. But I bet they're shaking their heads at his crash and burn and satisfied with it. Remember they suggested, based on a Bible verse, that apostates had mental issues. Lloyd is, by the process of generalization, total proof.

Anna Marina. Now there's a theory indeed that would suggest some sort of MKUltra mind control sort of thing and it could be very possible that he has no idea what he is doing and thinks his actions are perfectly normal.
Someone who reminds me very much of Lloyd is Justin Trudeau, Trudeau gives me exactly the same vibes as I get with Lloyd. They both seem to think that they are benefiting their respective demographic when in fact they are destroying everything around them. I don't know if you can call this delusional or something far more sinister, so for that reason, I think you could be on to something here.

Remember, we're talking about a supremely self-centered person with delusions of grandeur, who readily excuses his own defects and hang-ups while sharply criticizing others for even the smallest offense.
I agree with Vienne that he isn't controlled opposition. If Evans has a huge ego, that of the individual members of the GB are much, much larger by far. If they controlled him, he would not have spent so much time humiliating them and talking them down. Also, his downfall would have come much earlier. The WTS isn't the best at planning long term...

Thisismein1972 - even classrooms of children will game a teacher and the teacher does not know. A class is under tight control but a few know how each should respond to game the teacher. Maybe only one child knows how to do it and the others go along with it.
Same with a parent managing a child - the parent strives to find techniques that the child responds to. The child is oblivious to parent's tactics. This can be a good or bad thing depending on the motive and the desired end. Psychotherapists do the same and will carry out experiments to assess the effectiveness of techniques.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions - didn't we all go out on the ministry? With good intentions. Then finally we woke up and realised the GB had been gaming us all.
It is a very powerful thing - you try to tell a fully-in publisher they are being lied to by the GB. They will not accept it. Maybe eventually they accept it when something hits them personally. Or perhaps it is only by the grace of God that people wake up to Watchtower's tactics. And as you say these things go on in the political arena too.
