    LMsA: But this is a tangible amount, i.e. something that can be proven that the plaintiff actually lost in cash value as a direct result of the respondent’s actions.

    And also: he did not offer specifics. He just made the general charge and asked for a settlement amount. That would be like saying "your child threw a rock at my house, I want $X as compensation" without explaining whether the rock bounced harmlessly off of the steps or shattered a window. And then, when the parent asks for specifics, is told that the homeowner is under no obligation to provide them, insisting that they ask the child instead. Most people would regard the plaintiff in this matter to be something of a clown, at best. A grifter, at worst.

    So, we wait to see if he will ever reveal (to the defendants) what he is accusing them of saying, that he felt was worth 3,000 or 8,000 Euro. My guess: he will never reveal it since he knows the case will be dismissed, or he will reveal it and the mockery will begin anew. I'm not sure he can handle the latter.

    Thanks, TonusOH. The wheels in my head had been turning, and I was trying to churn out a similar scenario to what you've written here. I just didn't quite get it all together,... and it was bedtime. I'd been thinking, ""Where is his list of damages?", and "How does he (or anyone) know how much he has lost and why he's lost it?" Basically, I think we are back to the explanation from quite a few pages back,... Evans stepped on a rake, hitting himself on the head with it,... and is now suing other people for damages.

    I looked him up and this WhistlinDiesel is a YouTuber who does homemade stunts (???) Whatever the case, the interviewer's channel has 431K subs and the video 1.5 million views (which is more views than Leah Remini's episode about JWs by the way...)

    All I was saying was that (in the US at least) sending that letter is not a crime. All the issues raised are the kind of thing that get settled at trial, and would be included in the court documents when filed.

    So far nobody has seen the court documents, so arguing about it is moot.

    I agree that it does not fall under that category in his country as they have different laws and enable private citizens to initiate criminal proceedings. In effect what the “private prosecutor” does is initiate a case that will be heard by the court where evidence will be presented. The court then determines if this is a crime. The way it works elsewhere - you go to the police, they ask if you want to “press charges”, you say yes and they make a determination if it does and send it to the public prosecutor.

    What Croatia does is take the police out of the equation and the private prosecutor passes on information regarding the crime and the court acts as the prosecutor if it deems a crime has indeed been committed.

    Personally I think it’s a system that is vulnerable to abuse which this case is emblematic of.

    I agree 1000% I have to wonder how many Croatians find themselves counting cash into the hands of a cop to make the "criminal case" go away.
