I was surprised that there are half (or more) million dollar estates the GB lives in. Gated communities. Close to the Warwick site. How long has this been going on?

Where is your evidence that is occurring? Anyone who has served at the US branch especially in the last 2 or 3 decades will laugh at this. When you walk down the hall you see their names on the outside of the doors, their room numbers are in the Bethel Directory and you see them walking into their rooms in the residence constantly. In fact at Patterson and Wallkill you can stay in their rooms when they are not up at that complex, they are guest rooms. The most that they would have is a super double room that is something like 400 sq feet. This is just like the statements that Watchtower buys them any car they want and they just lounge around all day. A few of them do have nice cars but that is because usually, a friend will buy it for them.

There are some outside homes that are shared by some of the lawyers and the doctors of the family because they have such specialized licenses and not just anyone can do those types of jobs. Also many of the homes are converted where multiple bethelites will live in with a centralized kitchen and living room and each room will have one or two bethelites. Like Walkill had the W house it was like 10 minutes away from the main complex and something like 12 bethelites live in it. A lot of time when they bought these parcels it was owned by one person and instead of tearing down a perfectly good house they just converted them into bethel rooms.

There are also weekend cabins and homes that can be checked out on the weekends or during vacation time. It gives the bethelites someplace that is free but that they can get away from their normal routine.

Instead of 'of the family' do you mean 'with a family'? Why can't children live at Bethel as well? There's more than enough land to build specialised units on that would cater for families.

There must be so many female Bethelites who are sad that they can't have children due to Warchtower rules and their selfish husbands, to see others treated and catered for specifically just because of their worldly qualifications must be very hard to take. Not treating your slaves equally is unscriptural.

Surely it would be cheaper to accommodate them at Bethel. It doesn't make sense that they did all this planning for Warwick and there's still not enough accommodation.

Rather than accommodating 12 people in a house, they could sell it. 12 people in a house, with one kitchen, one laundry and maybe two bathrooms sounds uncomfortable.

There are also weekend cabins and homes that can be checked out on the weekends or during vacation time. It gives the bethelites someplace that is free but that they can get away from their normal routine.

You mean there are some that want to temporarily escape from the happiest place on earth?

Us regular folk can't afford a holiday house and most of us wouldn't dream of using donated money to have one. What next, free flights to travel the world?

Sounds more like a regular retreat for the GB and helpers to entertain each other and other JWs of note.

I can't find it (the search on this site is not fun to use) but someone recently posted a bunch of information (maybe originally from reddit, couldn't hit it there either so maybe I'm using the wrong search terms) showing that the organization owns several homes in gated communities not far from Warwick (I think it was Tuxedo). It was very surprising to see what they owned, complete with images from Google Earth.

Well I sure hope the GB don't have to live at headquarter and can commute from near by.

That way they can isolate themselves from the flock and get some more home time with the wife undistracted from the hussels and bussels of Warwick communal life.

Now they can drive to work whenever, and not be harassed by traffic and enjoy the quiet life as they rest out their senor years in the laps of luxury,, maybe even take an early retirement and leave the every day grind for some newly promoted GB helper.

Get a very stealthy drone with a camera and take a picture/video of the GB member walking to his fine house. LOL!

@millie - Yes! That's the thread with the video covering the homes, property records, etc. I searched and just kept finding older and older threads. Nice find!
