Thoughts on Sunning and blood Doctrines.

I have a couple of thoughts on the blood and Shunning Doctrines, both of which have been covered well before. here, and on J.W facts.com and elsewhere.

But I would like to point out the following, the only Scriptures they can use in reality for their Blood Doctrine are the verses from Acts Chapter 15. O.T verse are really out of the question, and dishonest to use on their part, as they do not follow most of the injunctions in there!

The context of Acts 15 is a Council of The Apostles and others in the Jerusalem Congregation, to decide what they should ask of Gentile Christians in the way of behaviours and practices etc, as Jewish Christians were demanding they comply with the Mosaic Law, or were, at the very least offended if they did not. When they get to the matter of the use of Blood, it is purely on the matter of EATING Blood ! A Transfusion of Blood is NOT eating it ! You can administer as many transfusions as you like to a person, and if you give them no sustenance, they will starve to death. Context is everything, to read more in to these verses is a blatant, and in fact, murderous Twisting of Scripture.

On the matter of Shunning, DFing, DAing, and actual Shunning, again the context of the Scriptures they use, and indeed, some of the instructions therein, do not say what the J.W org says, or do, they Twist these verses too.

To impose beliefs and actions upon their members in this way, is both dishonest and immoral. It is also murderous, many deaths from the Blood thing, including many children, and a fearful number of suicides and broken people from the Shunning.

It is also, to impose these things in this way, an Abuse of the Legal Human Rights of the victims, as shown by the recent Court judgement in a Swiss Court.

Exactly! Would your doctor be upset if he told you to abstain from meat and subsequently found out you had a liver transplant?

Acts 15 settled the question of how gentile and Jewish christians could enjoy unity and fellowship by requiring only the 'necessary things' that were required of temporary residents in Israel in the OT period.

These can be summed up as idolatry, fornication and blood.

A foreigner might cause outrage in Israel by using his portable idols, engaging in forbidden sexual practices - including marriages that were forbidden - and by eating unbled food. Other matters such as theft and murder were not mentioned since they were proscribed by Jew and gentile alike. As long as gentile christians observed these necessary things there need be no barrier to fellowship.

The law on blood was more significant than a dietary restriction. Blood was a symbol of a life that had been taken by another human. If an animal was found already dead it could be eaten unbled with impunity. Since no life is taken to donate blood it has no sacred value.

The no BT doctrine from the JWS heads was really a over interpretation of the scriptures which dealt with the sacredness of blood through the Mosaic laws..

Since no life is taken in the BT medical procedure, the blood transfused from one to another is still kept sacred intact.

Keep in mind that Genesis 9:4 "Only flesh with its soul - its blood - YOU must not eat" was given to Noah and could be understood to apply to his descendants, i.e, everyone. The commands given to Noah are known as the Noahide Laws.

When they get to the matter of the use of Blood,

With respect, my friend, you are giving them too much latitude.

At no point does the Bible speak of the "Use" of blood.

    Never. Not even once.

Every single command is situtionally specific.

Thanks T.D, you have made some excellent Posts on this subject in the past. And Earnest, I am well aware that the JW org quotes the Fictional Story of Noah, but, as I said, to pick the odd few verses out of the O.T and use them is dishonest, it is cherry picking, either take note of and live by ALL of the O,T, or none.

The writings of Paul make it plain that the O.T. Laws are "fulfilled" as he puts it, the only law Christians are under is " the law of the Christ".

Therefore we are back to them relying on Acts 15, and as Cofty's original Post on this makes plain, Link in his Post above, they have got that wrong.

They continue to shed Blood, take the lives of people, with a totally discredited Doctrine.

My thoughts on sunning are that it’s good for the immune system, especially during coronatime.

Phizzy : The writings of Paul make it plain that the O.T. Laws are "fulfilled" as he puts it, the only law Christians are under is " the law of the Christ".

When Paul writes that the O.T. laws are fulfilled he is particularly referring to the law of Moses. He writes in Romans 13:8-10:

Do not owe anything to anyone except to love one another; for whoever loves his fellow man has fulfilled the law. For the law code, “You must not commit adultery, you must not murder, you must not steal, you must not covet," and whatever other commandment there is, is summed up in this saying: “You must love your neighbor as yourself." Love does not work evil to one’s neighbor; therefore, love is the law’s fulfillment.

It is a given that the Law given to Israel was for a particular purpose for that nation. It is not dishonest or cherry-picking to say that the "laws" given to Noah apply to everyone, because the Bible teaches (whether you believe it or not) that everyone descended from Noah.

I am not arguing whether or not the application of these laws by Jehovah's Witnesses is correct, but that the law on the sanctity of blood/life is universal.

    Blood policies and Shunning

Those who unrepentantly take blood transfusions will be disfellowshipped and shunned and God will have to destroy them at Armageddon.

But if they took blood repeatedly prior to 1945 and even administered transfusions while doing alternative service for the Red Cross during WWI they would not have forfeited their right to survive Armageddon.

Sometimes it's best not to catch up to Jehovah's chariot too quickly.
