  pale emperor, we were in congregations where the accounts servant was incompetent or taking the money. Behind the scenes, a sister was doing the accounts and her husband signing off and doing the announcements. In my teen years, an accountant sister did the audits, well known in the circuit.

  Sisters handle accounts in accounting at Bethel.

  A small congregation in northern Canada had a sister doing the accounts because there was only one elder and one MS and they had their hands full.
  

  Some BOEs consider their pride more important than losing the WTS' money.

  I was told only yesterday that the elder in charge of the accounts has lost a few £££ here and a few £££ there due to having absolutely zero experience in handling finances. A sister who has been a qualified accountant for 30 years and has many many companies as her clients offered to help... what do you think happened? She was told of course she cant help, she's a sister. Only men can do the accounts.

  It boggles the mind.

  Why not?

  It can be quite in order according to the WT - and it's interesting you say that an elder is doing it already, rather than a ministerial servant as would normally be expected.
  

  And, if the guys continue do the public facing collection of monies from the contribution boxes, then the accounts is one of the easiest jobs to basically hand over to a sister to do.
  

  A word of warning to those apparently used to doing accounts, the WT's way is weird, totally weird - so actually they're not always the best to choose

  SIsters would often do the congregation's three-monthly audit anyway, no problem with that.

  Ministerial Servants Render Valuable Service
  

  One ministerial servant may be assigned to care for the literature so that we can obtain it for personal use and for the field ministry. Another may care for the magazines. Others are assigned to keep congregation accounts or territory records.

  If brothers are not available, an exemplary sister could be asked to assist with some things, even though she would not, of course, be appointed as a ministerial servant. An individual who is exemplary is someone whose conduct and worship are considered worthy of imitation. His or her meeting attendance, share in the ministry, family life, choices of entertainment, dress and grooming, and so forth are good examples for others.

  If an elder is doing the accounts, it is because the BOE does not think any of the MS are qualified.

  My husband was in a congregation that had no qualified MS to do the accounts, so he, an elder, was assigned to it because he was accountant. When he left they had the COBOE's wife do it and her husband signed it and made the announcements.

  There are no hard and fast rules, just what the local BOE decides.

  Watchtower trained kids know so little of the bible or church etiquette. Poorly educated but when parents take newly baptised 8 year olds out of school to pioneer...can you blame the kids for their ignorance?

  With regard to the congregations accounts, The Watchtower loves to forget the biblical examples of women in positions of authority - Deborah the judge, of course, But in the accounts example there is the " Diokonos"( deacon or ministerial servant) Pheobe for example, when describing the qualities that the office holders called "deacons" must possess, Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 3:11 that thegunaikas (Greek for "women") hosautos(Greek for "likewise"), translated "likewise the women". They, likewise, are to be "worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything." The "likewise" indicated that the women deacons were to have similar qualifications to the men deacons (see also the Apostle Paul's use of the term "likewise" inRomans 1:27, 1 Cor. 7:3,4,22, andTitus 2:3,6).[11][12]

  Chook » But the hat thing is a joke most religion wear some type of head covering Pope, skullcap by Muslims, Kippah by Judaism and we have the turbans. It interesting that we here in the western culture considered it rude or disrespectful for a man to wear a hat inside a church.

  When the hat is part of a religious tradition or part of religious vestments (such as the temple garments worn by Aaron and the Levitical priests it may be worn or removed as instructed by the dictates of their worship. When going into a synagogue, it's customary to wear a kippah, or yamaka. (There's usually a container of them for guests, which are to be returned before leaving.) The idea is that it's to remind the worshipper that there is always someone over you, watching and hearing you. I find it a nice touch. But Western tradition stipulates that if you're wearing an outdoor hat that you remove it indoors. This is especially true in the military.

  Baseball hats and other deeply religious head coverings are apparently meant to be worn at all times and places with the former to be worn at all sacred places of worship such as shooting ranges, bars, bowling alleys, sportig events and theaters (that's thee-ā-ters, not thē-ă-turs).

  Everything its place and in its season.
