This would have been far more effective if done with the joint cooperation of other nations, sending the message that the whole world will respond to atrocities. I'm a little ambivalent about the correctness of the missile strike. My gut feeling is satisfaction that someone has paid for the loss of innocent life, but uncertainty that this will accomplish any change in the Syrian conflict. Assad must go, but can we control who takes his place? As we've discovered, nation building is a very uncertain process. Let's hope that Trump listens to the competent military commanders in his administration.

Agreed. This U.S. being the world's police force has to end.

Sort of blows this leftists nonsense conspiracy theory away though.

Not really. Putin was able to manipulate Trump for his purposes but now he's found that he will react quickly against his interests if he so wishes. I think Trump did not even think of Putin at all before he made his decision; he's definitely not a strategic thinker.

actually it has nothing to do with Chemicals but with China. Xi in Florida, having to watch his host blast an opponent. message: just watch me.

Xi had the right to be treated as theme No.1, and did not make the headlines. Sweet revenge for the Obama no-red carpet theater, and no red faces. subtle moves.

Unless this was a clever ploy to create the illusion of tension between America and Russia, while only inflicting damage on Syria. Russia feigns anger, Trump shows toughness towards Russia. Bingo! No collusion, and Trump's popularity rises.

    This conspiracy stuff is fun!

Th reality is the European countries like for the US to bear the burden of carrying these attacks. The most they would have done was slap some NATO stickers on our missiles.

Where is LUHE? The images of gassed children make me wish for some reassuring Assad is really a very sensible guy we should really work with in order of defeating the Islamic state. After all, backing a middle-eastern dictator who gassed his own population has never backfired no?

More on topic, it seems that (a) Syrians are psychic or (b) someone tipped them off. I wonder how that could have happened..

Soon after the strike, President Trump delivered a statement from his Mar-A-Lago retreat.

    Mar-A-Lago is Spanish for "Sea-to-Lake."

Why do I get the dreaded feeling that Mar-A-Lago is a lost in translation ancronym for Harm-A-Geddon.
