All the social justice virtue flag flying about gun control doesn't do a damn thing.

I live in america, its laws may be too lax on what is required to own a gun, despite this I take regular training, I have a conceal permit, I know the realities of owning a gun responsibly, I don't have to be educated, and safe, and do these things but I choose to, I also choose to support those who do the training, who are not "gun shop cowboys" spewing rhetoric about the second amendment.

Just by doing what I do and supporting who I support that is closely aligned with law enforcement I have already done much more than a bunch of social justice masturbates posting headlines in discussion boards.

America doesn't need to ban guns, they need better laws, and even the places with the best laws it still doesn't do a whole lot as they are often the most violent.

Opinions do little, action does more. Stop virtue flagging, its tacky

My conceal and defense instructor by the way is a Brit, how ironic is that?

I choose to be educated and safe. If someone's kid shot them from the backseat of their own car I can tell you they were neither of these things. They are fools. You can't ban stupidity.

I am nearly killed by someone texting in their car every damn day, i have yet to have a gun pointed at me. Ban cell phones!

As I said before for all the Canadians, Australians and brits who think we are all a bunch of gun toting maniacs, don't come here, its too scary, the movies are real life and so is the news, everyone is shooting each other.

Witness 007 - Just asking, but are you saying the US should do what the Aussies did and have a gun buy back scheme and complete ban on certain types of weapons and severe restriction on the rest ? Not sure, what you are saying is all.

Well, texting while driving is illegal in many places for good reason.

Your argument seems to revolve around "laws don't work" ... so why have any? at all?

    That`s what I was thinking..

You would think the woman would have learned the first time..

How many times does the kid have to kill her, before she learns to secure her fire arms?..

It doesn't surprise me anymore. Stuff like this becomes normal in gun crazy US.

Pro gun people cry for their right to own a gun for protection and then get killed by toddlers. Just very tragic.

And WingCommander. This isn't US, Swiss... against the rest of the world. I am Swiss and Swiss / US gun laws have nothing in common. Just because you can keep the swiss army rifle at home (without amunition) doesn't make it an arms pro country. Most of the people in Switzerland don't own a gun and those that do, use it for sports or hunting and not to have the deluded idea for protection against criminals or terrorists which is a complete illusion.

I can't help but wonder why the kid wasn't secured in a car seat. Had he been secured in a car seat this wouldn't have happened. Of course, the stupid security guard who owned the car should have secured his weapon properly in the first place and this wouldn't have happened either. According to the article, the mother borrowed the car from someone who was a security guard who had the weapon in a gun belt under the seat. The gun belt slid out while the car was in motion. The child retrieved the gun and shot his mom. His one year old sister was in the front seat (probably unsecured too) where she never should have been as it is unsafe. So many thoughtless things happened in this story.

    Dear friends,

I was correcting some oft held misconceptions about the Australian scene. Even the US President Obama has quoted from the Australian experience as a way to go. His information was incorrect too. We have politicians here spouting the 'no massacres' line out of disregard to those who lost loved ones in deliberate arson and some ferocious bush fires (some 200 killed) just a few years ago many of which were criminally lit.

If I 'lit a fuse' I am sorry and have no desire to foment 'us vs them' arguments.

    Semper Fi..!
