I guess the ounce of prevention that the "apostates" have been giving the rest of the world really has been worth a pound of cure.
The best part is, they're just doing what the leadership has told them to do (when faced with a potential "householder" who knows the TATT).
At this rate, they'll all want to go hide in secluded JW "communes" before too long.
Seriously, though; Outlaw absolutely nailed it a long time ago when he said that "back in the day, JWs were Watchtower Warriors, but today's Witnesses were soft" (paraphrasing, but that's the gist).
