In nature the male function is an add-on. In our development we all look like females until that male chromosome kicks in and drops the ovaries into a sperm cooling sack and shoots out a delivery system.
Middle eastern society is way too male dominated. It's no wonder they came up with the Adam & Eve story.
Religion is "old" science. It's foolish to enshrine a particular stage of human knowledge.
The Genesis story is a copy of older similar stories. Should'nt that put up a red flag somewhere?
Not necessarily. Similarities don't necessarily indicate copies.
Let's say this account did happen. Over the years, it was written down by different civilizations. Granted, after several years and among different writers, differences in the story are bound to creep in. But that doesn't mean the later versions can't contain the most accurate retelling.
We see that today in historical books where, given greater understanding of the past from other sources and angles, we may be presented with a better picture of events than previous books on the same subject. And, if you believe the Bible was inspired, God could have provided that greater understanding of knowledge of the past.
And just because it was recorded by several sources with variations doesn't mean it didn't happen. On the contrary, I think that would indicate there was some basis for the story.

So the God of the bible.....who inspired the bible, and expects man to live by the bible......had scribes carefully copy all the writings........then god allowed "myths" to enter in and mess the story up so there is no real way of knowing what the exact truth is....................makes perfect sense to me
The Genesis story is a copy of older similar stories.
Agreed. They were finally compiled around a thousand years after the "Flood" that they record, which evidentally wiped out all eye-witnesses except one small family, who never met the original couple...
The Summerian legends and the Hammurabi law code makes interesting comparative reading.
The more you think the harder it is to accept......Adam condemed mankind to 6000 years so far of sin and death for eating a Granny Smith apple and Cain who killed his brother with a club was *snif...snif * forced to leave home for his wrong doing.
God even warned Cain to turn back while Adam was not forewarned of danger, Adam listened to his wife who God had decreed was his flesh and no man should come between. Eve was mislead by a snake (a.k.a satan) who wanted the worship of the two humans in the (Universe) which god rightly deserved. Eve's punishement was to endure labour pains and crave her husband. Why did he punish all the animals and make them suffer labour pains in the process...do you think an elephant forgets Adam caused that pain.
How could you get something the size of a football through a 10cm opening without any pain anyhow?
The myriads of powerful angels were not his first concern instead Satan wanted those two naked humans to worship him and he would then use more naked women to lure many of the powerful Angels away from heaven.

My comment on evolution was in regards to different races alledgedly having adapted for different environments. You'd perhaps think that the changes required to adapt to an area might have also produced other significant changes. It appears they have not.
I also made no comment regarding the cessation of evolution.
Regarding neanderthals, I have seen no consistency there, either. I have known people who were good looking, act in such a poor manner. I have also know people who look positively neaderthalic (is there such a word?? LOL), but proving both intelligent and cultured.
Regardless of the time that Homo Sapien Sapien has been on the scene, there appears to be little difference between the human inhabitants of this planet, on an evolutionary scale.
