The Watchtower is infamous for creating people who live by double standards, badolputtytat.
Once you get past this nasty business, and having to eat gobs of crow, I assume you'll do the usual fade.
Oh, and as Elsewhere said, do yourself a huge favor and bring a concealed recorder along with you. I guarantee you'll kick yourself if you don't.

putty tat you sound like you're in a difficult spot. Are you sure you want to go ahead and play the JW game? You know best, and you're a smart guy, I would just hate to see you get hurt from where this is probably going to lead.
Elsewhere is right. You can get a small recorder, just make sure it is not obscured so that the voices can be clearly heard. You might also want to write down some notes immediately after the meeting just in case the recording didn't come through. We did that during one meeting between the elders myself and my father and it really helped. Protect yourself with these people. They won't play fair, and I'm sure these elders will try to humiliate you in this meeting.
I see the hypocrisy of the stance, but I can't blame them for not wanting homosexuals or potential homosexuals at Bethel.
Excellent Idea, Elsewhere.... I have thought about that all day (haven't had time to post). I think recording even the conversations with my family would prove beneficial.... but I have no personal interest in any "court situation", unless it comes down to control of the estate. I think, it would not help my own son to have to experience all that, through me in court.

The day she dies, this little game ends. I attend meetings here, simply as a matter of "being seen", and collecting information and literature. (but I am several states away). When I travel in October, I will of course have to attend there.

I don't think (emotionally) they CAN hurt me. I carry no doubt with me. I have gained so much by choosing to leave them in the first place. I have a wonderful Wife and son, who have never experienced the borg. They cannot humiliate me.... I have had enough practice at "being in another place", while they drill me. I think I lost those type of emotions a very long time ago. . . but hey! I learned it from them!*Puttytat formally thanks The Watchtower for his strength and immunity to emotional abuse*.

Interesting.... interesting, because they would "want" child abusers or potential child abusers. However, this has nothing to do with homosexuality. Neither myself, nor this other person chose a homosexual lifestyle, as a way of life. I would have to say that homosexuality, and sadist child molesting perverts are two totally different and un-related types of people....
.... The difference? .... I would leave a "homosexual" to care for my son in my absence, if the situation arose.... but I wouldn't leave an Elder in in charge.
Thanx again for the input, it's taken me about seven months to get this far with this thing... The point of "do or die" is comming soon I think.....

This is weird. I know a guy that went to Bethel three years ago that had been dealt with judicially for homosexuality over a number of years, his past was common knowledge among the Elder body. I never have been able to understand how he made it in. I also wonder what he's doing now, can't really believe that he's changd his ways because everything he did while I was around him screamed "gay!".
Well, I think your friend is lucky because they didn't let him into Bethel. What a dump that place is!

My guess is that the Society wants nothing that could be used against itself including the history of its workers. So, it probably is starting to scrutinize every applicant to Bethel...being particularly sensitive in the area of sexual abuse.
In doing this, wouldn't the wts be admitting some amount of guilt? As far as I know they didn't do this before the crap hit the fan. Wouldn't this policy backefire on them as well?
obiwan:
I think the Watchtower Society always reacts to the pressures without admitting the problem. Often, one has to read "between the lines" to guess what is going on at the headquarters. The sexual abuse cases are lightly dismissed by Watchtower spokesmen and Jehovah's Witnesses. But I think, in fact, it has meant profound changes in the way the Watchtower will handle these cases from here on.
Now the Society reaches back to old articles discussing abuse to give the impression that it has always been a Watchtower policy to report these to the authorities. The latest letters and articles now put the reponsibility upon the local elders and members. The fact that they are now addressing the problem indicates that the problem has been noted by the leaders. What they have failed to do is to take any responsbility upon themselves for the problem.

Why? they have no problem with child molesters in their halls, going out in service. Like what two consenting adults do is so much worse. Apparently, one of the GB, Leo Greenless, liked to bugger everyone he could, after getting them as plastered as he could which is rape, if you ask me.
