Personally, I think that the Jessica Lynch story is a part-fiction of the American propaghanda machine (aka the Pentagon). Watch BBC World for impartial reporting.

Interesting thread. Thanks to all posters for the back/forth of both sides.
I've never been in a war position, sand storm, guns shooting at me, shot at another person........heard/seen any kind of "blank"........nor military encounter. Therefore, it would be hard for me to know exactly how military would respond in a warzone.
Thankfully.
For those who have - and who have helped other people.......thank you.
Thanks for the insight, Yeru.

Watch BBC World for impartial reporting.
You're kidding, right? The British Navy refused to watch or listen to the BBC on their ships in the Persian Gulf due to the bias reporting of the BBC. If the BBC is unbiased...I'm a democrat.

Your either the donkey, or the elephant? Sorry Yeru, I just couldn't resist.

If she starts "sharing" the book proceeds with this first guy, everyone who was winged in the current was will want a piece of the action. Greed is after all, a powerful emotion once it's let out of its lamp. There won't be a dime left over for Ms. Lynch.
I say each of those solders has a story to tell. Let them sell them, and let their stories standon their own two feet, instead of mooching off someone else's story.
IMHO as a professional journalist.

If she has any grain of PR sense, let alone decency, she'll donate a solid chunk of the money from her book to a fund for the survivors of soldiers killed in this war, or something of the sort.
excellent point- that should have been the first thing she did, even if she didn't mean it, at least from a PRstance here we have a person who says "I can't remember nothing" well what the hell then can she write about- to have come out and said AT THE TIME it was made known she had a book deal that a portion 3% 5 % whatever would go to some charity she would have been smelling like roses from a PR stand point but keep in mind this IS AMERICA AND THE DOLLAR RULES so to make money off other folks is nothing new to this country, look at slavery, so in this country folks have a long history of making money off the suffering of others - while it is done all around the world and thruout history America got it down to a Science-

It's not Lynch's fault the world took an interest in her story
the questin must be asked WHY DID THE WORLD TAKE AN INTEREST
was it because it was really a story or was it because of they way it was hyped
when this story first broke when had the story of some little gal who was fighting and shooting DOWN TO HER LAST BULLET who was fighting hand to hand and got stabbed
when that story first aired ON FRONT PAGE AND THE LEAD STORY ON CABLE AND NETWORK NEWS i dare say all of us was like "DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she was kicking A$$'-
then buried deep on page 36 just behind the Viagra ad - the real story was told and i recall seeing major media folks like WELL IT DON'T MATTER IT IS A GOOD STORY LEAVE IT ALONE
and that is the reason folks interest was in it, i bet if you ask the avg person to tell her story they will tell you about how she fought 100 Iraq by herself - because for so many folks it is only the first story that they know about and in some case EVEN CARE TO KNOW ABOUT
I fully undeerstand that in a society where money is king this is normal everyday stuff-
he he gets to press with his story WINS-
IF THE guy in charge of the resue has left the army he too could have written his story of how they saved her and we would see his book on the best seller and movie rights
she beat everyone to the punch alls fair in LOVE AND WAR

so to make money off other folks is nothing new to this country, look at slavery
JT, equating Jessica's story with slavery is an unbelievable stretch. The only people she is going to make money off of are those of us who will buy her book. As I pointed out earlier she is worth what someone is willing to pay her and the folks at the publishing company aren't stupid enough to throw around a million dollars unless they can see some way to make a buck out of sales of the book. No one is being forced to do anything, so your reference to slavery is a bit dishonest.
If you are looking for someone who is looking to make money off of someone else, look at the father of the young man who was killed. The father did nothing to earn any money, it was his son who made the ultimate sacrifice. And by the way the son volunteered for this duty.
then buried deep on page 36 just behind the Viagra ad - the real story was told and i recall seeing major media folks like WELL IT DON'T MATTER IT IS A GOOD STORY LEAVE IT ALONE
Now you get to the bottom of this whole mess, it was a lot of media hype in order to sell papers and/or advertising. Talk about making money off of someone else !!!
The report I read on the book said it was going to be a story about growing up in America. If that's the case, her experience in Iraq will be a small part of the book. Bug

Mr. Kim
Any book produced out of "this person's experience" is a waste of ink and paper! It is an insult to anyone that can think and read between the lines as to the truth on the matter.
