I was working nights and had forgotten to turn my cell phone off when I went to bed. Early in the morning my cell phone started ringing. After about the 4th call I turned it off. I woke about about 11am and turned my phone on to find 8 messages. The very first words I heard on the very first message were "oh my god, we're being attacked. turn on the t.v. and call me and let me know where you're at."
I remember dropping my phone and going to the t.v. the towers had already collapsed by that time. I sat in front of the t.v. for a good hour before finishing my messages. Both of my roomates were out of the state and had flown. One was stuck in Oregon, the other in Lousiana. I had moved out on my own and had only stopped going to meetings about a year. I called my mom and she said Armageddon had begun and I should repent.
I was terrified. I couldnt wait to get to work to be around people. We met and said a prayer that night before going in to the building to work. It was an odd feeling that is hard for me to remember. I was always so un-patriotic and rather cynical, but I put an american flag sticker on my truck after that day.
