Elder comes to visit

I haven't to a meeting in about 2 or so months and tonight one of the local elders came to visit me.

He goes on about, how he and the hall misses me and loves me. And they want to go back to the meetings, "it must be a teenager thing, everyone went thru it, but I know that you will be back." I was thinking to myself, you don't know that I'll be back, and I don't plan on it either.

Then he askes me if I have a girlfriend. Of course I say yes. And he goes on about how he had a girlfriend in high school and he broke up with her because "a girl can't give you everlasting life, Jehovah can." It was about then that I could have walked away. I love Melissa, or missy lissy as she posts on this board, with everything I am, and no god, man, socity can change my mind on that.

Then he talks about his life, and everything else under the sun with me and my parents, but I didn't really listen to that. Woohoo, like I want to know how you were raised a JW or how many cars you sold last year!

Anyway, just wanted to get it out

It sounds like you kept your cool, even when the elder was pretty darn annoying. That take a lot of self control. Good job.

Just stay low key, just like you are doing. You have a lot of years till you are able to leave home, so trying to keep your relationship with your parents reasonable is smart.

Wow, not going to the meetings for 2 months. At your age I'm surprised your parents didn't force you. that is good.

I remember reading missylizzy's post. I could be wrong but didn't she talk about going camping. She sounds really nice.. as do you too.

There is nothing like a free mind. Try to hang on to it .. for all your life.

Smyler: well by the looks of it Jah is not living up to the deal on the old everlasting life you know.

21 years ago they told Thunder the same thing, that I was just here now but he would live forever, well they also advised us not to marry, not to have kids and you know both my kids are grown 21 (in Nov) and 181/2) so I would take their advice for what it is. Propaganda to keep you in the shackles of the dubs.

Thunder and I have been very happy and you know if we sacraficed eternity for being together I still would much rather have the time with him in the now then them in the future.

Hang in there, you are a very strong person and you sound more mature than a lotta people I know.

My sister stood up for herself and stopped going to meetings when she was 12 yo. She was (and still is) a strong and mature person too. Finally 6 years later I got the strength to leave as well, Now only our Mum is still in and she talks and hangs out with all of us so its all pretty good.

Enjoy your life and keep a truly open mind and you'll be right.

Good job standing up to the elder! And good job on not getting baptized! He can't threaten you with anything since you're not baptized. A girlfriend may not give you everlasting life, but neither does Jehovah's Organization. You may be going through the teenage thing, but it doesn't mean you're a dumbass.
