One good game that has a great horror element is "DOOM". That game scares the crap outta me.
Try playing it with the lights out and put your headphones on (which I do frequently since I am deaf *not stoned deaf* but can hear some sounds that would make me fall over my chair).
When I hear this monster named Cyber Demon 
stumping around somewhere, I break out in sweat and wonder where the heck he's at??
There hasn't been a good game like DOOM in a long time, it had all the great elements in a horror eviroment, except for one RPG game that has a great scary sound effect, thundering sounds from Morrowwind and I just about fall out of my chair every time I hear a BOOM! from a thunderstorm.
Of course, when you hook up with 3 other players to play deathmatch, what great fun it is! Try turbo mode in this game and it gets all crazy!
