I think back to when we could only hope that we'd get a snowstorm so that the meeting would get cancelled. Now, we can enjoy every day and night without guilt.
Are You A Happier Person Than When You Were In The "Truth"?

Happiness never came to me until I learned the secret of making it for myself, of finding an inner glow that somehow made some right. Happiness comes from my attitudes. To create it for myself.
Happiness is a feeling that comes from an inner contentment, comes from my feeling pleased with myself.
Negativism is an overall feeling, an over all attitude. It was an attitude that dominate me to the exclusion of all other feelings. In my childhood, the experiences with jw's and my jw marriage. Negative emotions destroys only myself. The commitment I made for myself is changing and working with my attitudes constantly build positive images of myself. Comes from believing with self. To accept the role of responsibility for my actions and emotions. It's an ongoing process to seek the balance within.
I can say I am a much happier person today.

You MUST want to be happy in order to achieve "happiness". You have to WANT to look at things from a positive direction. You NEED to focus on controlling your own destiny. Ultimately, happiness is up to you.

Great post, OCW!
I was very depressed growing up in the troof. Now that I'm out i'm less so, and still working on "issues." I try to be in the moment and see the beauty in every moment.

Well you must still be an active Jehovah's Witness. If I knew for a cirtain it was the truth and that I was a witness for the God of the bible and not some corp then yes it would be a plesure to serve a real god who is fair in all things. But as it stands at present with me anyway I see a cult it is called Jehovah's Witness's and they will I surmise be oweing for taking Gods name in vain by luring so many to be in their ranks to be only induced in satanic ways of controling others with guilt and fear.

Absolutely. Since leaving the truth, I've felt more, experienced more, been open to new situations, taken more risks.
I think I was pretty much numb all those years as a JW. Life isn't perfect by any means; it's how you deal with it. Most JW's IMO are just passive observers to life.
I'm way, waaaay happier out!!!

I am happier now than I've ever been in my life. I was never happy as a JW, something I didn't realise until I left.

Comparitively speaking: YES
Wasn't raised a JW. Then became one as a young teenager.
Eventually, struggled with being a human being, and couldn't stand it any longer: left in 1983/84.
Hell yeah, much happier.
Stop hating, began loving.

When in the "truth" I could cope with the hope but not with the despair............failings of elders, hypocrisy, teachings etc
Now have lost the "hope" but have ditched the despair so on balance YES I am much happier now - also I am not carrying the eldrer baggage of other peoples burdens - life is much easier
