Would you sue if a person or company meant no intent to cause harm yet proved to be negligent???

I suppose it depends on how bad the injury is... If it's something that will affect me for the rest of my life, I would say yes. Otherwise my answer would be no.A little pain only makes a person stronger.

I would not sue if it was my fault but if negligence by another was the reason for an accident, I believe I would be due compensation.

It depends on the seriousness of injury and the extent of their negligence. I personally define negligence as something they deliberately chose to ignore, such as replacing their balding tires, not putting up a sign or barrier warning of a possible danger area, using unsafe materials even after finding out they are unsafe, etc. I don't know what the legal definition is. But if they deliberately ignore safety and it causes me injury, I would be inclined to sue for a reasonable amount to cover my injury.

If I spill McDonald's coffee in my lap while behind the wheel, common sense would tell me that it is my own stupid fault and also my responsibility.

So there is a big difference there between reasonable common sense and frivolous litigation. I think there are many who understand the difference, but always some who are greedy enough to push that envelope if it means big bucks.

What this world lacks is common sense. If someone is actually hurt in some way, or screwed out of money, sure, it makes sense to sue.

What so many people are doing however, is being sue happy. They sue anyone or anything, just hoping to make a few bucks. That is just wrong.

How about that dumbshit who sued McDonalds because he ate there 3 times a day and got fat?

What would justify suing over a matter, to you?

I live in California, I think suiing someone is required before you can graduate college.

I really despise the "someone else is to blame" attitude that is prevalent today.

Don't get me wrong, if people or companies cause harm through negligence or malice they should pay up but it's getting rediculous and ends up rewarding sloppy, moronic fools who don't take due care and attention.

Slipped on a step? Spilt your coffee on your knee? Be more careful ...

The problem is that people see it as a free lunch when it isn't. It's you and I that pay for it in increased premiums.

I don't like how sue-happy people seem to have become... it's like people are just looking for a reason to sue..any reason..so that they can get rich quick and be set for life.

Suing McDonald's cause you're getting fat? Sorry, that's just plain stupid. Suing a tobacco company because you didn't know smoking was harmful? Hello! Get a clue! How could you not know it's bad for you?

There are definitely valid reasons to sue though and I'm glad when a person can teach a large corporate entity a "lesson" by winning a legit case.

We were listening to a radio program this weekend in which people call in and ask the lawyer host whether they have a case. Some are legitimate. But there was one caller who broke his tooth while flossing and wanted to know if he could sue the company who manufactured the dental floss!! It is idiots like this who clog up the legal system wasting everyones time. All these people who sue because they spilled their coffee or got fat from eating supersized fries 4 times a day are responsible for their own stupidity and deserve nothing but a good smack upside the head.

As for whether I would personally sue, it would have to be a clear and blatant violation of my person or rights.
