I absolutely will keep the doors open. I love my daughters with all my heart. But I do have a lot of love to give, even if it's only in the form of $15 per month plus and some caring letters.

beryl: You are a wonderful person. When I get on my feet again, I want to do the same thing. At some point later down the road, I want to adopt internationally.

Last year, at this time, I was very sick and living with my father. I had no money and he rationed out (get this) one half cup of couscous a day and one cup of oatmeal with kelp and sesame seeds. Both were so gross I poured them down the drain when he wasn't looking even though I was literally starving.

I found a quarter in the street and was literally in tears thanking Jehovah for my good fortune. I spent it on a quarter bag of chips.

    Things will get better...

and thanks but no, I 'm not wonderful. I need to feel as though I'm doing something so, in the end, this is once again about me....

Beryl, what is wonderful is you are focusing on giving rather than receiving. For an introvert, this is indeed a big step. This will not only help you feel better, but two other humans on this planet, too.

I'm glad your Father's stinginess didn't rub off on you! I think it's fantastic. And if you *are* getting scammed, at least your heart is in the right place! Amazing how one's station can change so drastically within a short year. It *is* about you, kind of. But mostly it's about *you* and some young folks that are eating, being clothed, and getting medical attention from your generosity. Like Martha Stewart says "it's a good thing!"

I do admire you for taking on this responsibility. I'm way to selfish to ever take on that sort of thing but I'm impressed and I wish you the best.
