If a 'celebrity' dies, it's no biggie to me. If a talented songwriter and musician dies, there are always people whose hearts have been touched by their music. Most people find some music that expresses their emotions - it's about empathy. Not a quality that everyone shares, I guess.

Here's a JW question:
With Prince dying as an active publisher in good standing, according to his local elder George "by the book" Cook, will he be resurrected with the same musical talents?
Will he remember his lyrics?
Will he sing his songs in the New System?
Will he be taller than 5'2"?
Or... If Prince suddenly wakes up resurrected to Heaven will he then know that the WT great crowd of other sheep in an earthly paradise was nonsense?

...and by Prince I'm assuming you're referring to "The Artist Formally Known as Alive" (too soon?)

I agree, it's not really huge news, but shows that what many think of as "news" nowadays is far too celebrity focused. CNN is particularly bad with it's definitions of "breaking news" - they use it for scheduled programmes.
He wrote a few catchy tunes and people liked to see him in concert. That's it! He hasn't cured cancer or walked on water or advanced human achievement by inventing one of those clever as-seen-on-TV gadgets (not available in stores, call now and get another free).
Soon we'll get tired of celebrity deaths. The TV / celebrity age starting in the 60's/70's means the number of people we "know" who start dropping dead will rise dramatically over the next decade
