    Interestingly

"The span of recorded history is roughly 5,000 years, beginning with the Sumerian cuneiform script, with the oldest coherent texts from about 2600 BC. Ancient history covers all continents inhabited by humans in the period 3000 BC – AD 500."

Why do you think human beings did not start recording history before the 6000 year mark? Anyone have a theory about that?

together with the latest scrolls they found a beautiful basket dated as > 10 000 years old, so the 6 000 year limit for human consciousness, is a basket case.

    Waton 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

From what I have read humans didn’t really flourish as a species till about 6000 years ago somewhere in Iraq. I mean written language , permanent settlements, the growing of crops etc etc.

Was it some evolutionary mutation in our brain that made us smarter or the supernatural imprint of a soul? When you look at the advancement on a timeline in proportion it’s not a curve , it’s a vertical line straight up.

Who knows. It’s kind of a bottomless rabbit hole if you want argue about it. I find it’s best to leave it alone.

    I mean written language

vanderhoven & steel, some humans have an unexplained inhibition about writing, Did it not take early Christians decades to start writing about the extraordinary story that happened in the beginning of the "first" century?

The JW Org stance has always been that Adam and Eve were crated a little over 6,000 years ago. As they try to make every story in the Bible literal, they believe Adam and Eve were real people and the first humans.

In which case they are in deep do-do, because there are buildings , which appear to be Temples, but certainly built by human hands , that are at least three thousand years OLDER than when A&E were supposedly created.

Scientists in any field do not merely " believe" what has been established , use of the word "believe" is deliberate by the Org and other Bible believers who are anti-Science to make it appear there is room for doubt.

There is no doubt at all that life on Earth got to be as it is today by Natural Selection, or if you prefer Evolution. No room for doubt.

What is not 100% proven , and probably will not be, is when the first true "man" Homo Sapiens actually appeared. We know it was hundreds of thousands of years ago possibly, or maybe a bit closer to our time, but as it probably was with most changes, it happened slowly, and with a few cases at first, there was no single point in time we can identify. But we DO know, and no room for doubt, that it happened at least 100,000 years ago, and probably much earlier.

Men and women like us have been around a lot longer than Bible Myths and Fables would have you believe.

With the original question there was the element of "should I tell the truth", I always think you should, if you are sure that the person will not react angrily, in a devastating way. But you cannot sacrifice truth to spare mere feelings.

Perhaps the best thing is to say " Why don't we have a look at what Wiki says together ?" JW Org does not disapprove of Wiki. Then when you get something like " Pfffttt, so that is what they believe is it ?" you can explain as I did above, that the Scientific Method results in Facts and Evidence that are Truth, no belief needed.

The Watchtower teaches that we should use old earth creationist scientists to interpret the Genesis account. Others, just read the bible like any other book and don't try to assign symbolism, metaphor & other figures of speech unless the text specifically opens the door for that. And, even then the assumption is that the answers are to be found elsewhere in the bible, so that the bible answers itself without having to find an outside source or key.

This is called Biblical Literalism. There hasn't been a time in the past 150 years for more support for this position than there is right now because of the information-sharing internet.

Here you will find the internet's greatest collection of scientific evidence and peer-reviewed articles in favor of a plain literal reading of Genesis.

Homo sapiens, the first modern humans, evolved from their early hominid predecessors between 200,000 and 300,000 years ago. ...... The first modern humans began moving outside of Africa starting about 70,000-100,000 years ago.

Decades vs a millennium - seems like quite a stretch if intelligent man has been here a hundred thousand years. The gospels were written within the lifetime of the Apostles.

I always wonder why nobody bothered to record any photographs and moving pictures before ~1800.

It seems to me that if modern man emerged 300,000 years ago, we would have some written evidence of that fact dating well beyond 6000 years.
