I must say that this girl has my deepest sympathy. Having read the reports , I believe her . It seems a whole lot more likely, than to believe that she staged it . The Police do not seem to have any real evidence that her story is not true Lets hope that she has a mature and sensible body of elders . She is suffering enough without the cong. hounding her

Was not there a case in Australia a while back. A couple were attacked by the road. I believe the man was killed but the girl survived and the police tried to say that she was implicated in the attack. However the truth did come out and that girl was exonerated .

Incidentally, an informed witness would not accept a Morning After pill . It is viewed as a technical abortion .

You also have to keep in mind that the Police in this case have a motive for claiming she is a liar. If this crime caused fear in the community and they were unable to find the assailant then it makes them look very bad. If they claim she was lying then they are off the hook and the sherrif can get back to his reelection campaign. Hmmmmmmm

It looks as though the police spent a lot of time on her case and that leads me to one or two conclusions at least. They are either covering their own asses and validating their conclusion based on the fact that they spent so much time and still didn't find the person responsible, or that she didn't get raped and was doing the CYA herself.

    Sincerely,

I think an easy way to validate her claims, based on her belief systems is have the boyfriend give up a sperm sample.....course, if she also had a worldy boyfriend....

Either way - one is innocent until proven guilty - and even then it can be hard to know what the truth is.

Or a third option is that these Missouri law agents are bass-ackward idiots who don't know what they're doing, which is also a decent possibility.

I don't know about adult rape victims, but I know that with children according to a study by Roland Summitt called Child Sexual Abuse Accomadation Syndrome, there are often inconsistencies with their stories. For many people, part of their defensive coping is to shut out feelings, emotions and memories, which makes them harder to recall accurately. Granted, this usually refers to delayed disclosures rather than immediate ones.

Who knows, according to the news articles, it seems they don't believe her because she couldn't remember the time frame and similar inconsistencies? That sounds absurd.

Could she be lying? Possibly, but if I had to put money on it with my limited knowledge of the facts, I'd guess the police are wrong.

The knife cuts on her breasts and chests were "shallow" and "possibly self-inflicted". Self-mutilation, in this area, is rare in my experience. Usually it is done on the arms or stomach, legs. This does not make sense to me. Just think about how hard it would be to cut your own breasts - if the highway rape is not true, then what DID happen to this young woman!!!

I also note the cops mentioned they did not bother to check her story about attending the KH just prior to the rape - WTF??? Like that would take a lot of time out of the 2,000+ hours they claim to have spent investigating.

    Also, I noted

Now the concerned father finds himself in another battle. He's looking for a lawyer to defend his oldest daughter.

Where are the loving arms of the congregation when she most needs them? I guess resources are only available for defending against CSA survivors and taking their $$$ a la Ms. Boer.

I'm loathe to ever go against a woman in matters like this without really had evidence. As far as the time the rape took is concerned, there's not that big a discrepency between 5 mins and 14 mins, if you're being attacked. "It all happened so fast" is a common thing heard after trauma. Maybe, to her, it was 5 mins.

I feel sorry for this girl, because now she's going to be investigated by the elders too. Even if the elders think that a rape occured, they'll want to know if she resisted and screamed.

If it is a lie and a case of hiding consensual sex, I feel sorry for her too - it would seem indeed that losing her pioneer and missionary 'privilages' would have been too much for her to bear perhaps. Just sad all the way around.

I think it's good that most here aren't jumping on the "she's a jw, she must be lying" bandwagon. Actually I don't think anyone has so far. As a rape survivor I can tell you that what you remember is very sporadic and strange. Ten years later and I can vividly remember every detail of the man's face but I couldn't tell you what day of the week it was or for how long it lasted. I could give you the exact street corner where I finally pulled my car over and broke down crying but I couldn't find the house where it happened to save my life. Could she be lying? Of course but, it's entirely possible she isn't. Interesting story NN!

The sheriff says he didn't confirm Satterfield's whereabouts the day she was allegedly attacked.

"We did not attempt to confirm (she was at the church meetings)," he says. "We specifically decided not to bring the church into this."

and yet they are willing to file charges against her? Hmmmmmmm It did not require bringing in the church. All they had to do was ask her who might have seen her there and then contact that person or persons. They went so far as to get the survelance camera recordings to confirm that she was at the gas station. Hmmmmmm

My point exactly. After 2000 hours of investigation!!!

This doesn't 'sound' right to me.
