Overt Use Of Certain Words.

Do you get hung up on certain words, so that you tend to use them more than other's do?

    I do!

My latest word hang up (other than overt) is RUMBUSTIOUS. It has such a nice raspberry sound to it and almost describes itself by it's very sound. Then there's RODOMONTADE. Telling someone how much you enjoyed their rodomontade will often send the reader scurrying for the dictionary. Be prepared though, they won't love you so much afterwards!

My other favourite word at present is SPECIOUS. Telling a dub that he is guilty of specious reasoning has an immensely satisfying flavour to it. Most of them don't know quite what it means except that it doesn't sound so good. It's the bewildered half-nod that put's the icing on the cake.

Well, it's almost time for me to asquatulate, anyone else got some favourite words or expressions we'd enjoy?

    Englishman.

    Englishman,

What do those words mean? Please tell... my vocabulary is atrocious!

One word that I cannot stand is THUS. Remember those watchtowers... when they would say THUS all the time?

Thus, adam and eve were cast out into the darkness....

    Thus, thus, thus.

Another buddy of mine hated that word too. Whenever I would comment at the Watchtower (tm) study, I would use the word THUS as much as possible.

LOL E-Man. I love it when someone uses a word, I haven't heard before. Keeps me on my toes.

Jgnat used one a few days ago. garrulous. Could be used to describe s few of the "persistant" posters here.

I get a pet word into the ol vocab and use it for a while. Can't think of my most recent.

Gregg Easterbrook, who writes an ESPN page 2 column called Tuesday Morning Quarterback, uses rodomontade quite often.

Here in America we just make up words, (Norm Crosbyisums). If something is awful, it is pukeafull! The names of fastfood places or other businesses, Mc Dog dos, Taco Smell, Burger Fling, Drunken Blownuts and so on. After a whole generation exposed to Madison Avenue, people really think it is spelled litebulb! I pity anyone coming to the US and talking to a local yokel, we-all is breezen it in the sunshine and having it made in the shade, sippin' Margaritas! I love expunge, and denude, those words always get a second glance. Maverick
