Because I am still very much held a prisoner to past beliefs and practice, I dress in suit and tie and bring a briefcase on my frequent dates.
I talk business during the entire Happy Meal (MacDonalds), displaying ad brochures and spreadsheets relative to whatever business plan I happen to be hawking that day. I count the venture as a business expense and JWs who frequent this fine diner know I AM NOT on a date. There are no smirks, no snickering, no knowing glances.
My table mates -- there are many, but not all on the same night -- will, on occasion, ask me, "How do I look?" or "May I have cheese on my burger?" I am not distracted from my goal to have a nice night out, chatting up a most willing audience, and ending the night hearing a warm "thank you," and receiving a firm, parting handshake.
There is no doubt in my mind that I am well within the confines of Jehovah's sheep pen.

That does not sound like fun.

Sounds like a fanciful description of some wonderful time spent with 'the gran.'

Thanks, NY44 and Bobcat, for your replies.
The above is based on fact, when I was asked out on dates. I did bring along a briefcase. As much as possible, I said "no" to dinner dates that took place in a restaurant.
Our restaurants are always loaded with JWs and they knew I could not remarry (per their rules).
Since I can finally laugh over love lost, this thread is meant to be in the humor category.

CC - You heartbreaker! I really think you should write a love story. I can't believe any of this is real -- not that I don't believe you -- but the lives in/escaping the cult are unreal.
Can be humorous, yes -- but sad, indeed. What a dichotomy.

Thanks, LV101:
The basic premise is true, the details are a wee bit exaggerated!
Essentially, I was living in two worlds and had to step out of one, into the other, and vice versa. Now, I come and go as I please and whoever is my friend is my friend. Nothing to hide, nor do I care to.
Best Wishes.

I came here to type -
Someone is a lucky lady to get to have a date with our very own CC!

Thank you, millie210, but you are too kind.
I live in a funny, strange world where the border between reality and fantasy bleeds and blends, one into the other.
Always nice hearing from you!

CC-- It's hard to believe the horror the cult causes -- I believe you.
Nothing to hide -- well darn - that would add to the drama for the love story.
Life certainly is not linear and the only way out is through with lots going bump in the night.
You deserve all the dinner dates and friends you have time for -- savor every minute!

Thanks, again, LV101:
Of course, there must remain some mystery; a few close friends know the real me, but I've learned I don't owe anyone a detailed explanation regarding all the affairs of the heart. Insofar as what others think, a friend once told me that we wouldn't worry so much about what others think of us if we realized how little they do . . .
Well, that point is moot, and I shall be mute (on some matters!) . . .
Blessings and peace.
