Sara Annie -> Allegedly the whole biblical mandate to eat only with your right (or was it left?) hand was because the other hand was reserved for the duty of wiping, and no one wanted your wipe-hand dipping into the communal bowl.
Now I can understand the custom we have read about of greeting a person and washing their feet when guests arrive.
I guess it's a much better altenative to shaking their hand.

You may want to go back and edit your answer before Jennie sees it. I'm sure you didn't mean to say those things to a 10 year old girl. Hopefully it was past her bedtime when you posted, so you have a window of opportunity here.

You are very quick to criticise others for not paying attention. Please notice in Jennie's profile her age. You have been attacking a 9 year old girl. Does that make you feel like a man? You just beat up a little girl. Feel good about it? Does it help your fragile little ego to call an innocent child a moron? I guess since You Know flew the coop you've been missing someone to beat up on. So now you pick on my daughter.
Nina and I wrestled with the idea of allowing Jennie to post here. We were against it at first but Jennie was very insistent. We finally agreed after Jennie wrote something and wanted very badly to post it. Do you know what it was? It was a note she wrote about how she felt regarding her grandfather's suicide. Bill Bibbee, an elder for over 40 years, killed himself after years of hounding by the elders in his congregation. I was there and watched him be beaten into submission day after day and I couldn't do a fucking thing about it.

One of the big concerns Nina and I had about allowing Jennie to post was the fear that she would be attacked. However the response to her note was so overwhelmingly positive that we decided to allow her to continue but only on the condition that she or I would there and had read the threads Jennie wanted to post on. 99% of her posts have been to wish a welcome to a newbie or a happy birthday to someone.
This thread orignated over dinner one night. Jennie is an intelligent, but skeptical child. She has major problems with the Bible and she questioned the autenticity of the Bible one night over Adam and Eve. We had a lively and interesting discussion as she asked some very pointed and smart questions. But gradually we all got a bit silly and so the origin of these questions. She asked, very shyly, if she could start a thread and we agreed. Again only with the proviso that we read all responses before she does and posts a reply.
Now you see the reason we have been so cautious. Sir, this thread was started as a joke. Jennie was being silly, but she also was curious as to what others thought. She wants very badly to be grown up. She has seen the funny pictures I put in the "Apparently I'm a Killer" thread and she wanted to be like daddy, in her own way.

I used to think you were an "intelligent" fellow, God knows you do. My advice is to throttle down, switch to decaf, grab a clue and for God's sake find a better outlet for your anger. Taking out your life's woes on a little 9 year girl ain't the solution.

Did people in the bible go to the bathroom? No, they usually went to a hole in the ground...in cities they had chamber pots. The bible makes reference a couple of times to potty breaks...I think it's Saul who is mentioned to have stopped in a Cave and "sat on his feet" I think is the reference...that was taking a dump...the desert folks often used sand...in their left hand...to clear out the fresh dingle berries from dumping...paper would NOT have been used as it was very espensive...as was cloth, so that probably wasn't used either. Thus, leaves and sand were the main wiping items. There are several varieties of broad leave plants that make excellent wipers. This was always done with the left hand...eating with the right.
Where Adam and Eve black or white? Swarthy....almost like the Indians of India I should imagine...but there's no way to know.
