I can reflect back on all the friendships I culitvated with people over the years. Our bonds were so close that I considered many to be my biological brothers and sisters. Not all the witnesses were self absorbed. Many reached out to help me in my times of depression. I will always be so grateful to those people. You KNOW who you are!

I have fond memories of 3 beautiful friendships I cultivated while a JW (yes only 3- the rest wouldn't give my poor white trash butt the time of day in such a snobby congregation). Anyways, I grieved for a long time for those friendships, and the memories I have of them are precious.

Interestingly enough, I got one of um back not to long ago, hopefully to be never lost again. With her, I am able to relive some of the happier moments during those years, but inevitably we both end up crying for what was lost, and the love we both lost because of that religions' beliefs.

LL Yes I remember the Shepherds Great people -their son left the JWs---I can remember I asked after his health one day & Sister Sheperd Hugged me & said" Thank you so much Grace for asking Your the only one who has ever asked about him in two years"
I have many, many GREAT memories in the Organization.. Mostly the fun we had-we had lots of friends - showers! weddings. but mostly the fun of the doors we knocked at & the odd things that happened to us.. To many to relate.... Hope your feeling better LL

That was nice to read about some of your experiences. I remember one night a friend of ours having a part on the service meeting, she was so nervous, so naturally we made sure we sat right up front. Just as she settled down to do her sit down demonstration with another sister about conducting a book study, we all put polo mints in our eyes and stared straight forward...... she could hardly contain herself on the stage, we of course stared straight ahead. The Counsel afterwards from the elder even mentioned us, "Thankyou to the comedians in the front row......despite which, Sister so and so showed us how to conduct a study despite distractions....." How we laughed!!!

I have very fond memories of my parents, growing up, and my 2 sisters. We were a very closely knit family. But I attribute those fond memories directly to my parents treatment of me as a child and do not confuse them with the JW teachings of which my parents were so jealous.

When I turned 16 , my parents, evidently out of not buying me xmas and birthday presents my entire life, bought me a car. It was, my lifes dream, a 2 door red and white convertible. Very sporty and racey for those days. ( 1970 chevelle Malibu, now a classic car with a 350 HP engine) Of course, being the good boy I was ( back then anyway) I used it to pioneer with. That was not well recieved by the elders in the congregation who all thought that a pioneer should be driving a 4 dor car, one that was less sporty. Dad was also an Elder and his respnse was " it is just a car" Of course I kept the car and enjoyed it.

talk about one word changing a meaning...

previous post I meant to type in "ZEALOUS", not "jealous"

My parents raised me as a JW, but they were not jealous.LOL

Franklin, ....why only this year I went to the Memorial in my Silver Cougar Sports 16v 2.5 black leather trim, Low profile alloy wheels. and not one batted an eyelid in the carpark, that was until I nearly backed out onto a group of sisters standing there yacking in the carpark. I jumped out and an astonished crowd from the next congregation looked on, I knew one of the sisters, and she made a playful slap at me. All was ok. I did offer them a ride home......

    scooby,

so you offered her a ride home from the carpark....and did you get lucky that nite?

let me guess the answer to that one....

billy Joel sang about "catholic girls start much too late" but who ever wrote about JW girls?
