Ok I think I may have one since I dug deep enough.........

    Ok here goes............

I was validictorian in middle school........I didn't even know untill the awards ceremony.

Well the same weekend or the one after........my father's bible study......had to move to another city (about 3 hrs away or so).......so of course we had a going-away party for them(bible study that ended up with them getting baptized).

Well..........when it was time for the cake to be cut (ya big deal right?).........I was outside........( I was 14-15 at the time) and my mom came out to get me for the cake cutting.......I was like "oh lord......I have to be there since it is my dad's bible study/now baptized-- to put on a good show and be there for the whole event (*eyes rolling at this point*).

So........they brought me to the cake table by the bible study/newly baptized one........and LOW AND BEHOLD!!!!!!!! IT WAS MY NAME ON THE CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had NO IDEA this whole thing was set up for ME---- being the validictorian and graduating middle school!!!!!!!!

    EVERYONE was IN ON IT!!!!!!!!!

I felt so good and shocked all at the same time!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe everyone did so well keeping it a secret from me.......even my best friend didn't spill the beans!!!!!!!!!!

I felt so special and felt all my hard work actually meant something for the first time in my short lived life.

That is the fondest memory I have being a JW.

Wasn't long after I was Df'd........guess they wish they would have saved $ on that cake LOL!!!

Gee Scoob, this is a bad time for me. Lots of sadness right now. But let's see if we can set the Way Back Machine to those thrilling days of yesteryear.

I do have lots of fond memories of being a Witness. Almost all of them having to do with friends and people I knew.

I remember working out in service with my pioneer partner after The Empire Strikes Back came out. We were debating what would happen in the next movie and would Armageddon come before the next installment.

I remember the first truly kind person in my life. She was gentle and interested in me. Her name was Guila McDonald, and she used to say she was Old McDonald's wife. She had to have been in her upper 60s when she studied the Bible with me. She sat on the floor (I was only 9) and answered any question I had. It was most extraordinary. I could ask anyting I wanted. Why did people suffer? Is this all there is? Is there nothing more? She was kind and patient. She gave me a toy when I memorized all 66 books of the Bible, I was so very pleased.

She taught me about the nature of God. I saw him through her eyes. It took me 20 years to believe what I saw, but she taught me about someone who looked on me with tender affection and amused tolerance. She was a pioneer and I would go out in service on the weekends and in the evening just to be with her. Other boys my age were out playing baseball and football, but I was out in field service with the one person who truly cared about me.

I would have walked on water if she had asked. It's been 13 years since her death.

Sorry Scoob. I know you wanted something good, but this is the best I can do tonight.

Good memories? Well, I had some laughs with some in the congregation who were down to earth and funny.

What's up with the post and then the razz 18 minutes later?

I have tons of good memories as a Dub. Hours spent with friends in field service; planning for, packing for, traveling to and volunteering at assemblies; meeting new friends at every new town I visited and feeling a genuine sense of brotherhood; quick builds; get-togethers large and small.

I was a Dub for almost thirty years and most of that time hold positive memories. I'd be lying if I said otherwise.

Jes....wonderful, if they had saved on the cake, I'd have still got it for you.

After so much negativity here its good to hear some fond memories. I haven't forgotten them, nice to see some others haven't either.

Scoob Most of us are here to heal (at least at one point) therefore we will talk a lot about the bad stuff. I guess sometimes it seems pretty unbalanced.

I do think of those I left behind. There were some good people. I hope they are all out. Actually I think of some of them quite often.

But the people I knew and cared about are still controlled by an organization that cares little for the slaves under their control or for those who leave. Sometimes it is just too hard to think of any good things when even thinking of the good people is bittersweet.

I used to organize after meeting picnics - until that was stopped.

I used to organize outings in the summer for the kids - until that was stopped.

I used to sit with the sick and dying until I got reproved for that.

Everything is so mixed up a bit of good with a lot of sadness.

If leaving the good behind was easy most of us wouldn't be here dealing with the losses
