it;s not thanksgiving here yet, but...

today i was lazing in the hammock in the backyard, reading a great book without being interrupted. there was a really nice breeze so the hammock was sort of gently rocking, and there was this amazing crisp, clean quality to the air. nothing like a fall afternoon. :) anyhow, i happened to glance overhead and noticed that this little grey spider was weaving her web in the rafters above me. i got to watch her weave most of the framework of her home, i spent hours spying on her. i felt really thankful that i had a chance to see that. it was humbling.

that is so absolutely sappy, i know....

SP. Sunny Orlando, yes and lota and lots of orange trees.

Mortons68. We had turkey coming out of our ears. But that's ok, I love turkey.

RAYZORBLADE Lookong forward to the pics. You are probably just getting the colours, ours are winding down.

cruzanheart. I recall saying that prayer or something like it last night. Dear God, thank you for this supper, I did not know it was going to be so big!

Special K. There was a few kids at our dinner last night. They were mostly thankful for CJ's pumpkin cookies with maple syrup icing.

SixofNine ..... Is there a chorus to go with the verse?

tinkerbell82 You weren't by chance eating "curds and whey" too were you?

arrowstar You look thankful for that tree.

We were invited to a neighbour's house for dinner. CJ brought her hom-made cabbage rolls, pumpkin pie, and cookies. The was the traditional ham and turkey with stuffing and gravy, cabbage rolls, perogies, sweet and sour meatballs, scalloped and whipped potatoes, squash, turnip, carrots, corn, brussel sprouts, pickled beets and antipasta. The desert was pumpkin pie with real whipped cream, rhubarb pudding and pumpkin cookies. There was plenty of fine wine and ale to go around.

Everbody got a tad nervous when I declared I wanted to say the blessing....The know we used to be religious fanatics...LOL

I did however to get to speak last, at what I was thankful for. They know well of our family's coming out. I briefly thanked their family for the invitation to share this time with them, and how grateful we were to experience new friends, and a truer definition of "love your neighbour"

We are now off for our traditional walk around Hazelwood lake, which we have been doing for 22 years, before we were even married, where we take the camera, and a do a casual portrait shot. It's really neat to look at those pictures over the years, as kids and pets have come and grown.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts ! Happy Thanksgiving.

I went up to the Bancroft Ont. area with some friends for the long weekend. Weather was great, except for some rain on Sunday. Some of us stayed in cottages, motels, or campgrounds. It was a pretty good party all around.

Turkeyday dinner was a huge disappointment though. Went to a restaurant for it and was charged $17.50 for turkey dinner. It's just as well the portions were small, the food tasted bad anyway.

Well, maybe I'll console myself with Kentucky chicken tonight. I've still got a bottle of good Scotch...
