For background to the story, read here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/12927/1.ashx

OK. Witness Lucy decided to invite estranged non-witness husband Ray out for a few drinks last Friday evening to the Lamb Inn, High street, Worle.

Well, Ray was quite pleased, after all, although he and Dub Lucy are no longer living together, there can be the odd sparkle of you-know-what between them, so he assumed that a boozy and romantic evening was on the cards.

Unfortunately, they both got absolutely pie-eyed and decided that "tonight was not the night" and booked seperate taxi's to their seperate homes. Ray got into his taxi and Lucy got into hers.

But! After Ray's taxi had left, Lucy instructed her taxi driver to let her out of the car. Then, she headed back to her own car, got in and drove away.

..Unfortunately, Lucy being absolutely paralytic, hadn't got more than a hundred yards or so, when she drove straight into the side of a vehicle that was waiting at a traffic junction. A passenger was injured in the crash and the police were called. Lucy had to take a breathalyser test which proved to be positive...very positive!

She was taken to the local police station, breathalysed again and her name entered into the police computer, whereupon it was discovered that she had 2 previous convictions for drunken driving. She had on the first occasion been banned for 12 months, the second occasion she had been banned from driving for 3 years and warned that if it happened again she would face a substantial prison sentence. She has also been, in the past, placed on restrictions by the local elders for her drunken driving.

The case comes to court next week. Will witness Lucy go to jail? Will witness Lucy be disfellowshipped? Will the case of the poisoned sausages prove her to be an unreliable witness in her own defence?

    More as it happens!

Tear up her driving license and throw it away, along with the key to her cell.

It's irresponsible people like that who end up killing innocent families with their stupidity.

She'll probably be welcomed back to the KH and be encouraged to count her time while 'inside'.

I just don't know what it is with witnesses and drunk-driving. Last year, Maria ******, a sister also from Weston super Mare, died in a multi car pile up on the M5 after drinking the best part of a bottle of vodka. The case was all over the local paper.

Also in Weston super Mare, Dub-in-the-pub, an elder, drank numerous whisky's in the local pub and drove afterwards most days. Before I was aware of his problems, he attended my 2001 barbie and spiked everyone's drinks with poteen. In case you weren't aware, poteen is an illicit potato liquor that can cause blindness.

So, that's 3 drinking drivers in one congregation. I'mn partial to a few bevvies meself, but as for driving under the influence, well, that's just total indifference to the welfare of others IMHO.

    No sympathy from me either.

Its makes me sick when people drink and drive.

I have spent to long in the A and E Depts picking up the pieces of the results of such actions

Only last month We tried to operate on a 9 month old baby boy, whose father had crashed whilst being 3 times over the limit.

Ruptured spleen, massive head injuries, the little mite tried to hang on to life. but just 4 hours later, I had to sign the Life Extinct forms.

So I hope they lock away the key.

    Sorry for venting.
