I prayed to have my prayers answered, to ask for an answer to my prayer, but so far nothing. It feels a lot like talking to myself.

One JW was praying for rain, cause he's a farmer. Another JW in his same congregation was praying for sunny weather, cause he's a roofer. I wonder which prayer god answers.

I think prayer matters if it's important to the believer. If a religious person as a problem, feels they should pray about it but doesn't, then their mental state likely won't be good. If they pray, they might feel peace of mind afterwards.

Of course, praying doesn't objectively help anything.

Imagine I was ill and went to hospital ...

"Well Mr LUHE, your test results are back and we can confidently diagnose such-and-such disease. We don't have the necessary drugs but there's no need to worry ... we're going to pray for you. Please don't look at me like that, we're going to pray the disease away ..."

I can't help but think of those 40+ jw's in the Philippines a few years ago that were no doubt praying to jehober when that typhoon hit. WTF, they were inside the Kingdom Hall praying for help when a tidal wave took them to their death. Guess jehober was busy answering the prayers of the gb for more helpers to finish the warwick project
