    Hi J...

I am a CPA and I have big family. You can imagine all the free tax returns that I prepare.

To show them the seriousness/time spent of my work, I invoice them my full rate and give them equal

credit. Ever since I implemented this method, things have been much better. Try it.

    Good luck!

    jwbot,

Brothers are supposed to be a pain in the ass it's their job. There are a few ways to get him to chill out. Tell him that you will do his sight for free but you need some software to make it better. Tell him if he buys the software for you, you can make the sight more to his liking. That way you are still doing it for free but the cost of the software will make up for it. Even if the software is for something else or just an upgrade or plug-in for the software you are using on his project it's like getting paid and takes the sting out of doing the work for free and dealing with his bullshit. By doing this he will still see you doing the work for free but he is just helping you buy buying some software that will make his free project better. In the past four months Iv bought over four thousand dollars worth of graphic software, upgrades and plug-ins, it adds up quick. That way he will do one of two things. He will begin to see how great your work looks as is without the additional software or he will buy it for you to try and prove a point. Either way you win.

You can also tell him that since you are doing the work for free that you want a link to your own site from the one you built for him. Put a large link button that says "sight built by". He won't be able to say no. You might possibly pick up a projects from one of his clients visiting his sight.

For future reference you might think about upping your hourly rate. That keeps the people who have no clue about what it takes for you to do your work out of your hair and keeps those who do appreciate your work have a greater respect for it. Iv been doing this work for a long time, I don't do work for amateur clients, it ends up taking twice as long educating them and ends up paying you half it's value. If you have to do something for free, tell whom ever you are doing it for that you have a limited amount of time to do it and if there are any revisions you will have to charge them for it. That usually helps them see how great the original work is.

Amazing pictures! It's fascinating how a captured moment becomes art. Nice opening scene on your site too. I sometimes take color effects from nature and spread them out on a whole wall, or if the room is small, a whole room.

Thanks SaitSatan, I have noticed my progression since I first started taking pictures a year ago...Sadly, I am growing out of my camera!

Next semester, I hope to take a photography course at my college...oooo I would looove that!

As for the decoration of your rooms, I am somewhat an interior designer at heart myself...I plan to put a lot of me and my S/O's photos nicely matted and framed in the rooms, I will most definitely coordinate colors to match the room...

I guess you will be having fun doing your own place. My business is painting houses, and sometimes they special effects. Haven't done anything to my own apt

I'm still learning about my digi camera

Wow! Your site is excellent! I've been matting and framing for the last 10 years and my favorites are always photographs. I suppose I love them because I'm so horrible at photography myself. For some reason I'm always cutting off body parts....LOL! My sister is an artist and she always has either my mother (another picture framer) or myself frame her artwork when she has a show but in return, I got a kickass resume with great graphics! She's a manager at Kinko's. If you can't count on your family for help than who?
