The JW are under mind control . They think on terms of God and demons about everything as taught by the WTBTS. The only answeres they like to hear at meetings are those that the society provides in their publications .
How Does A Jehovah's Witness THINK???

Alan, your http://www.geocities.com/osarsif/think.htm is just an excellent analysis. Gawd, how many times I could make a marginal note to it and say "Yep, this was me."
I've bookmarked that URL.
I know there's been a lot of debate about whether JWs are brainwashed, mind-controlled, etc...fwiw, I put my vote in and say "Yes, we were." I couldn't "think myself" out of a box that I didn't even know I was in.

I would berate myself year in and year out for "thinking" too much; this obviously led to doubts and rants (to myself) about Jehovah's cruelty, inconsistencies, etc. Prayers of ?why, why, why??, with obviously no answer forthcoming.
So as a typically brainwashed robot, I would blame myself for my doubts and I'd try and stop "thinking" so much and questioning things. The stress that brought on was horrible; I was walking a tightrope of fear on one side and guilt on the other.
There was a sister who used to be my pioneer partner, and at times I envied her ability to "not think". She'd plug along, day after day, month after month, year after year, never questioning, never ever reading anything but the Society's literature, "faithful", shoulder-to-the-grindstone sister.
Now I am very happy I never stopped ?thinking? and I feel sad when I think of my former pioneer partner and her inability to reason for herself.

Is this a trick question Minimus?
"Ignoring alternative viewpoints is not the way to find "truth", if there is such a thing." (nicely put iiz) I just had this very discusion with my mother. She told me that her research has proved to her that it is right, and I told her that in order to truly call it research, you have to be willing to look at both sides of an arguement in detail, not just the literature published by the same people that came up wit the theory in the first place.

......So......How would you describe the brain of a typical Jehovah's Witness???
Little used, undedeveloped , perhaps hard to find ...
Like others who posted above, i used to find that the only way was to keep busy, adding up reports , counting attendances etc and just doing it all without thinking. I often used to want to follow the Society's own advice and stop and ponder over the "Wonderful things of the Truth" to heghten my appreciation. But when I did, I only went around in circles with questions that did not have any answer. Until the penny dropped and I arrived at the simple conclusion. IT IS JUST NOT TRUE.
After that, everything made sense

Pick out which one is the Active Jehovahs Witness:

While I agree with the general theme of this thread, I have to point out that from what I recall "conversation stoppers" were defined as things a householder would say in order to STOP a conversation in an effort to promptly end the visit, not an attempt to engage the hapless door knockers in further debate. Am I right on this?
Thanks,
Integ.

Yes, integ, that is correct. Responses such as:
I have my own religion.
I don't believe in religion.
Ones that you never heard about on the platform but you heard often were:
Why don't you get a life.
F*** off!
You again? Why don't you get it? I don't want you guys here!
I truly pity you people.
I said no last time, why are you here again?
GET LOST!
Why don't you go get a job?
Go to hell.
