Wasn't the whole conversation stopper thing started with the Reasoning book?

A few years after I left the Borg I applied for a job as a telemarketer. When I was interviewing, the manager asked if I would be prepared to get rejected without taking it personally. I said no problem, I used to be a door-knocking JW! I nearly flipped when I got to my training class and they gave me a booklet filled with the exact same concept: how to keep going when the poor schmuck on the other end of the line says he's not interested, etc. Maybe the Dubs should look into telemarketing instead of all those office cleaning businesses. They've certainly got the experience for it!

The Society used "conversation stoppers" as a phrase to express what the householder might come up with to get rid of us.If a Witness knew how to get around the objection, we might be able to place a magazine! YAY!!.....JW's cannot think for themselves. It's that simple. You could engage in any discussion and logically and factually present the facts but if a Witness is TOLD otherwise, then, that's that. End of story! No room for discussion." The Watchtower of 1988 said-----blah, blah, blah and the "slave" knows better".

JW's don't think for themselves, and on some level, I think they know that. When I was still a JW, but beginning to have doubts, I made it a point to make a statement to a few people, just to gauge their reactions. I would say something like "It's nice to be part of an organization that teaches us to think for ourselves, unlike other religions." Well, the reactions were quite interesting. No one ever responded to the statement, other than to stutter a bit, and have a very stunned, if not horrified look on their face. I wonder if it ever made anyone think. Probably not.

Walter----I like it!.....Here's a few others------It's nice to be a part of Jehovah's organization since we don't have to think for ourselves.------It's great that the organization makes all our decisions for us! -------Isn't it wonderful to know we don't have to worry about exercising our own God-given consciences?
