We're losing species by the shit-load every day and the hole in the ozone is dramatically increasing. Be concerened)
I see where you're going with that statement. inevitably we will be talking about global warming, "the greenhouse effect," Kyoto, and all that. I will address now how I think about this.
there is no consensus anywhere among scientists on the issue of global warming. In other words, has the earth's surface temperature changed so much in the past 140 years? Can someone plot on a graph for me the average recorded surface temperature for each year since 1875 to now? If you do this, you'll probably see that the earth's temperature has risen by 1 degree celsius. So this has really affected vegetation, plantlife and species right? Yes and no. Way back when during the last ice age, the Earth's temperature rose by 8 degrees celsius in a single decade. Even after the last ice age, surface temperature changed drastically between periods of time--and that depended on where the readings were taken. So when people talk about global warming and changes in climate, I can't help but wonder: can we really presume that natural climate is tranquil and predictable? How much blame can we really put on industrialization for alterations in the species life and climate? Sure there are industries that have exploited nature. But to say that the gaping hole in the ozone layer and the wildlife dying and desertification is heading us straight into catastrophe.........it all makes me skeptical.
