Why do the watchtower studies have no doctrine anymore?

JWs were getting their doctrinal dose at the book study as they studied the Daniel Prophecy, Isaiah 1 and 2 Prophecy books. Rather than a study of the Bible books, it was a 4-year-long litany of 1919, 1919, 1919, 1919.....

It was Snoresville; few prepared, few commented; all were bored including the conductors.

To have made Sunday a second dose would have been more than even the most loyal JW could stand.

Now that the Worship book is going to be considered at the book study there might be more doctrinal issues on Sunday, but I doubt it. There is a dumbing down of the publishers, folks. Those who have a brain are leaving or fading out mentally at the meetings.

The average JW cannot explain the 1914 chronology let alone the chronology of the appearance of the Messiah in 29 CE using their Bible without running to the WT-CD or an elder.

The fall of the generation doctrine dealt a pretty big blow to WT doctrine in general IMHO.

I frequently wondered if it was only a matter of time before someone besides Freddy got the balls to inject his words into the mouth of the Almighty and issue another time decree. But, could they sell it like Freddy could do? I think not. Doctrinally, I don't know who would have the clout to sell another message from God like that?

In all likelyhood they will continue to languish in medeocrity punctuated at times with dry, repetitious guilt-ridden scoldings.

Not having any doctrinal studies in the Watch Tower for the next few years will cause the JWs to forget about the present outdated beliefs of the Organization. Then when the KGB announces changes in future Watch Tower magazines the rank and file will think that God has revealed a new understanding to the brothers. They won't even notice that the so called new changes are merely recycled Russellite doctrines.

    Athanasius,

You could have it. To blast full speed into more new light, perhaps it is time to let some other older light grow dim first.

As I pointed out in a related thread, Bethel is squirming in extreme discomfort over 1914. They've painted themselves into a corner; they know it, and can't figure out a way to extricate themselves and still emerge without triggering a major disaffection and exodus.

Freddie's been dead a long time now.

There is much to be said in this above statement regarding the topic of this thread.

Freddie was the principal writer in these matters of doctrine, and policy. When his influence disappeared, and the apostates were already running full steam..............it was time for the society to change gears and print material to save their sorry asses. They have many miles of tracks to try and cover over.

if you have a copy of the December 1st 2003 article, note how at the end of one of the study articles, 'could we perhaps donate more on a weekly basis, as did the eraly Christians?'

there are so many begging articles of late its funny.

Please find below a direct quote from the book called The "Report" Volume I. page 133, released in the year of 1995, as a prediction of the very situation we are seeing today among Jehovah's Witnesses:

"...Yes, there can be no question that the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society is a greedy, money-making business! Just how disgusting is she? Only Jehovah knows for sure.

"Nevertheless, the Watch tower Society claims to need MONEY, and plenty of it! Although, the Watch Tower Society is quite wealthy, the headquarters staff continues to milk the brotherhood for as much as they can get from them. But many of the brothers are poor and in no position to give it to her. Therefore, in an effort to gain a larger membership and thus gain prestige and more dollars, the Watch Tower Society must appeal to the affluent of the world, just like Christendom! Therefore, we will continue to notice that the Watch Tower Society will beg, beg, and completely drain the brothers of their material resources to the maximum!

"This will be quite evident in their literature, as the Watch Tower Society will take advantage of every opportunity to ask for more money from the brotherhood. Think about it."

    End of quote.

The above information was first written in the publication called The "Report" Volume I, published in the year of 1995 and distributed in bookstores up and down the east coast of the U.S.A. and other parts of the country and in other areas around the world.

One time when the WT study article had something about giving more I made a comment that Jesus didn't ask the old woman who gave a penny to give more. And I also pointed out that after Jesus died the Mosaic Law was abolished and so was the requirement for a tythe so it was inappropriate to ask us individually to give more than we are.

And at that moment the elders made a note in the margin......"We must do a shepherding call to re-adjust Crinklestein"
