Please find below a direct quote from the book called The "Report" Volume I. page 133, released in the year of 1995, as a prediction of the very situation we are seeing today among Jehovah's Witnesses:

But many of the brothers are poor and in no position to give it to her. Therefore, in an effort to gain a larger membership and thus gain prestige and more dollars, the Watch Tower Society must appeal to the affluent of the world, just like Christendom! Therefore, we will continue to notice that the Watch Tower Society will beg, beg, and completely drain the brothers of their material resources to the maximum!
"This will be quite evident in their literature, as the Watch Tower Society will take advantage of every opportunity to ask for more money from the brotherhood. Think about it."
