The nerve of these people....

I was thoroughly disgusted after last Sunday's meeting. The talk was about Satan and his methods of trapping people. As many of you probably know, they are adamantly against any and all forms of spiritism, including Harry Potter, any TV shows containing spiritism, and video games containing spiritism.

Now, if you're uncomfortable with that sort of thing, fine, but the speaker was a first class prick about the whole issue. He went on in a mocking tone saying stuff like, "Oh, here we have a little boy with glasses. Isn't he so cute" while mock waving a magic wand. Then he tore into Halloween, saying most people know it has to do with demons, but he proceeded to mockingly mimick people saying "Oh, but we just do it for the kids."

On the Halloween issue, the guy that studies with me reasons that because kids say "trick or treat," it's black mail. WHAT THE #@!*#! How in the hell is that black mail? It's not like any kids have any intention whatsoever of harming anybody; they simply want candy so they can go back home and get a sugar high. Yeah, there are lots of pranksters, but I think a good majority of them constitute people who are too old to go trick or treating.

Yes, I did sort of go back to them. Not because I agree with everything, but because I am close friends with some of the people there. They are really starting to digust me again to the point where I can't stand it any longer. I guess I should be up front about what is bugging me. I think this Friday when my JW friend comes over, I'll speak with him about all this.

Good luck!! I hope your friend is a liberal dub! It's dangerous to question anything that comes from the stage...er, the fds... i mean God.

BTW, you changed your Mega Man avatar! Mega Man rocks! Especially the original one on the old NES!

I have been away from the Witness group for a while and my nerves have had a chance to heal a bit, but I don't appreciate their condescending arrogant attitude either. They have little to be critical about. They claim their book printing corporation is directed by ghosts. To me, that is much worse than a kid dressing up as a witch at Halloween.

On the topic of trick or treat, once on Halloween local kids rang the bell on a dark house in town and when no one answered the door, the kids thought the elderly couple were just hiding with the lights out, when in reality they were out of town for a week. As a trick . . . .the kids put the garden hose in the basement window and turned on the faucet and left. When the couple returned home their basement was flooded and they lost many cherished possessions plus had huge damage to their house. It was so bad they had to move out while it was repaired. when I was a kid growing up as a JW, I was not allowed to watch the TV show " I dream of Jeanie" or "Bewitched".

Of course, the holidays were non existent. My parents did allow me to have a "Bible cosume party" one year, which was good creative "scriptural" fun. Although one sister complained because she said that "the wearing of masks" was rooted in paganism. I recall my mother very tactfully shutting her up ( "let the kids have some fun"--way to go mom!)

    These people are all fanatics!

On the Halloween thing, I don't fault the dubs neccessarily. There a lot of "Christians" who are not Jw's that feel it is a spirtistic holiday, and don't celebrate. If that was ALL they were against, I'd be fine. As far as spiritism goes, the true meaning of the word is; SPIRIT-ISM=OF THE SPIRIT. There's nothing really wrong with that is there?

My parents are TV junkies, never stopped us watching anything. They even drove us 55 miles to the cinema to see a movie, the only one showing was Barbarella. I saw it at age 12.

My younger sister who has 4 boys won't let them watch Casper. Stupid narrow minded cow.

You know, Franklin, that sister was just looking out for your best interests. Think about it. You dressed up in masks, which are obviously rooted in spiritism, and now you are an apostate. You should send her a note, thanking her for her concern.

Nice to see a fellow video game fan. Yeah, Mega Man is one of my all time favorite icons. Oops, there I go idol worshipping again.

Anyway, I changed it because I'm sick of having a video game avatar on every board, plus Gohan from Dragon Ball Z is one of my favorite heroes.

As many of you probably know, they are adamantly against any and all forms of spiritism,

Which includes diviniation, they are heavily against divination. Numerology is divination. Numerology is how they come up with 1914 etc.

The duds are so superstitious as to be a joke! They see demons everywhere but where they do the most harm...running the WatchTower Organization! The J-dud Masters have these poor dupes terrified of anything they don't understand! And as poorly educated has most of them are that's just about everything! Maverick
