Please note my previously noted points as to comparisons reagrding moderators behaving like 'elders', on-line boards being like 'kingdom halls' and the like, merely because the moderators are applying exactly the same methodology that is used on most every discussion Board on the Internet NOT run by XJW's

Absolutely. It's KH's that model themselves on business methods, just the same way that business practise influences the way a site is run.

Most sensible people poo-poo the old "KH" or "elder" jibe as being a sound-bite of the sort used by the less principled political parties, the one's who main objective is to divide the people and then abandon them.

How did this become a discussion regarding other boards again?

Since it has, SP has raised a valid point. Some have been deleted from here for things said "elsewhere". I can find no lies said from that person regarding Simon or the moderators, but I can find some criticisms of how the board is run. Is this also valid reason for deletion? Not trying to be a you know what - I am honestly trying to understand the situation in these individuals cases, as it is troublesome to me as well as I'm sure it is to others.

I can't be anybody else but myself. After surviving several major crises in my life I have had to gush out my most intimate details to strangers, professionals. With the strain of living through those crises, I could no longer maintain any type of separate personas to the outside world. Ever after, what you see is what you get.

This was terribly embarrassing for my kids as they passed through the teen years, and continues with my honey. "Can't you keep ANYTHING quiet?"

This is important information for any potential Bridge partners. Such openness does have it's benefits, though. I don't have to strain to keep my stories straight.

I'm the same loyal, incorrigible nut everywhere I go. Even when I go to the grocery store. Pretty neat eh? I used to have this forum I loved to go to devoted to my favorite band. It was a great place to discuss religion, politics, and philosophy until my fave band got popular. All of a sudden "our" small little board was overrun by newbie's who cared little about much beyond which band member had a girlfriend and which was the cutest. I left off posting shortly after. Boards and their dynamic's change all the time. To expect stasis is to be unrealistic. I'll enjoy what I can from each forum I go to but not rely too heavily on any of them. I think I'm outgrowing message boards and their silly theatrics.

Truth be known. I visit a lot of other different boards, jw, xjw and S&M/B&D boards

I just don't have the time or energy to post at them all. So I may visit the other boards to visit the freinds I miss, but wherever I go I am me, myself, and I. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Mike,

Just as Simon would be a guest at one of my barbies and argue his case against mine politely out of respect for me, as is becoming to his guest status, so I return the courtesy and and argue politely - well, reasonably politely - against his political beliefs at his site.

I agree. I am quite sure that many of these issues fall outside of the boundaries of normal behavior. I hate to say this but I see many of the problems that erupt from time to time on these Boards more as a reflection XJW past baggage than normal human relations.

For example, if you want to see how most on-line Boards are moderated by non-XJW's, Wolfgirl provided a perfect example in her thread here : http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/60746/1.ashx

Until people attend to the issue as to why most non XJW boards are moderated much more heavily than this one, I will continue to see a strong element of JW mentality present in many who argue over the most obvious elements of human relationships. It seems as if because we were all part of the same club once, many feel that over-familiarity is acceptable. This is not normal.

As to politics, I have an old school chum who is a Labour Politician ( Duncan knows him also I think ), and whose politics as the Socialist that I am always has us at the opposite ends of ideologies, but I have never seen the need to slander or lie about him to try to prove my point. We still, after all these years remain friends and he did so during my JW years also.

    Aztec,

I think I'm outgrowing message boards and their silly theatrics.

Well said. If you have no real life, you will not find one on an XJW message Board. You are certainly one of the most level-headed and reasonable posters Aztec.

I can't be anyone but myself no matter where I post....I couldn't hide my "bananas" if I tried....although I do use some restraint on other lists and boards where the posters are somewhat having a tendency towards anal-retentiveness and aggressive way-laying tactics....

I am ALWAYS my self, and if people dont like me for who I am, then thats there opinion. I could care less if someone hated me becuz if they wanna hate me then go right ahead becuz its not my choice. I dont see why ppl would and do hate me becuz i am a very sweet and loving person... ppl tend to think different after they get to kno me.. then they seemed to get attached to me

    Hehe. . umm. . so. .

Of course some may 'feel' this way, my point was that if that feeling is not based on a reality then perhaps the person who 'feel's this way needs to look to themselves as to why.
Their feelings might not be based in reality (although they might be or maybe not or maybe they are or. . ), but I was simply offering an alternative to why a person might want to use a "Fake" name. (Hey this is fun, lets just keep restating our original point but reword it).

I have already explained why I use this phrase and given examples on a previous post which you commented on. Please note my previously noted points as to comparisons reagrding moderators behaving like 'elders', on-line boards being like 'kingdom halls' and the like, merely because the moderators are applying exactly the same methodology that is used on most every discussion Board on the Internet NOT run by XJW's. This is not normal behavior but certainly displays dysfunctional reasoning. It becomes 'gross' when despite evidence to the contrary a person chooses to sidestep the challenges of the evidence.
Oh right. . re-restating stuff again. Thing is, I see your side, but is the ability to see mine there? The saying comes to mind, "Arguing on the internet is like the Special Olympics, even if you win. ." oh nevermind .
I am relaxed and I don't understand the motivation behind this statement.

Well, you do seem to have been a little strung out on this issue recently. Or is that just my perception? I apologize in advance if I have misread the situation.

Apology accepted. It shows by your comments to me and your sometimes condescending attitude that you think you have figured me out when in fact you have not. "Don't believe the hype!" (BTW, I think a condescending attitude is the curse of intellectuals, so don't take it as an insult. I see some words differently than most). You might find this hard to believe, but I am not agitated about this situation. I just don't agree with you and I said so. You are in good company though, Eman seems to be agreeing with everything you've been saying. I am insignificant and so are my words. Pardon me. I enjoy playing be myself. I'll go sit over here. . .

Thank you my child - go in peace....

    Okey-dokey!!

I started a thread, asking the exact same question and it was deleted in less than a minute. I guess if I want a question answered, I'll ask one of the unmarked to ask it for me. It has worked in the past.

I'm gonna be bad. Here's what it said:

In addition to JWD, many have found comaraderie on other sites such as JWF and JWO. I see this as a good thing. The other sites allow people who don't like quite as much censorship an outlet for things not deemed appropriate here.

So. . this leads me to the question: Will/have/should anyone be penalized on JWD for something said on JWF or JWO? (Such as being deleted?) It seems to me that if we can not "publicly disput[e] or argu[e] about moderator decisions", on this board, then fairness could be stifled. Sometimes other opinions are wanted, even needed from others; such as fellow posters and not just mods. If a person feels wronged or strongly about a mod decision over here shouldn't they have the right to express and examine this publicly on another board w/o fear of penalization?

I ask this question publicly and hope that it can be answered publicly because I know others are wondering the same thing.

I see JWD as a homebase, but from time to time I like to visit the other boards. I would like to know if people are being judged by things said on other boards. .or at least how strongly.
