These past few weeks has been psycho... One of my ex b/f's tried to rape my sister, she's only 12...like comon... N i told one of my friends, n he freaked out n bet him up... he said dont ever talk to Alisha or her sister ever again, n told him that if he ever did he would come after him again. Like where does fighting get people? Why do teenagers these days like to hurt other people? Whats is the freaking point? It gets you no wheres but in trouble! And I hate it how these "So called tough girls" think they are all that n they pick fights with you just because of the way u look, like seriously thats so messed up! Who goes up to someone and says, oh wanna fight me? I had that happen so many times becuase of my so called "dirty looks" that i give them. N I'm like u know what i didnt look at u kno way and u dont kno me... n i walk away! I dont have time to waste on picking on people and fighting! Makes me wanna puke

I was a teenager over 30 years ago. Back then, we went pretty nuts, too.

The big difference today is that:

    (a) teenagers have more ready access to firearms and other weapons than the previous generation

    (b) video game induced violence is a new, rapidly growing phenomenon

    (c) both the entertainment and news media are publicizing and glorifying violence in ways never thought of by previous generations, all so they can sell more SUVs and junk food

    (d) there is 30% more sugar in the diet of today's youth than that of previous generations

Let's see I was a teenager a long time ago, last year in fact. Where I went to school there were lots of different types. Some where wannabe gangmembers and they always wanted to fight. Once I was called out by a tough girl. I just asked a football player for protection, it worked just fine.

My dad said it was pretty bad back when he was a kid too. He grew up in a bad neighborhood in San Francisco. Lots of racial stuff there. A white kid on the street alone was just asking to get his butt hurt.

But any attempted rape needs to be reported to the police. That loser needs a wake up call before he hurts someone.

I have to agree with you, its the ME generation. Who gives a crap about anyone else. The attitude of teens is to do with the TV and Picture shows that make it cool to have a bad attitude. If you have a problem with someone no need to talk, the simple answer is to get a gun and blow their head off. I honestly can't blame them completely when our own state leaders have the same "cowboy" mentality.

When I left home, I was 16 (70s) and was able to get a job immediately and make good $$. I had only a grade 10 education, but I didn't have to flip burgers for a living. There was no crack cocaine, no legalized gambling and jobs were plentiful.

One job I had as a 16-year old was stuffing newspapers - I was paid $6.50/hour. That job now pays $5.50/hour. In some cases, wages have actually gone down and it shocks me!

If I was a teenager today, especially with our economy, I think I would be very scared about the future.

The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer - today's youth have to look forward to many years of education just to make a living wage. Then they can live in an apartment, pay 20K for a car, and be a corporate slave so that others can live in fabulous wealth.

Some guy who can throw/hit a ball gets paid millions, but teachers can't afford their own home.

Also, violence is so glorified - people think Pulp Fiction is entertainment. People who are openly involved with crime - Tupac & P. Diddy for example - are considered role models for youth. Most of the young women on TV and in movies dress like prostitutes.

Look at what we're doing to the environment - and all in the name of the almighty dollar.

In other words, it seems to me that our society/culture is deteriorating and it is showing up in the youth. A more philosophical view than most, I guess, but that's how I see it.

I'm happy to hear you are thinking about this stuff - it's important for young folk to question the degradation of our society, since YOU are our future.

Chim Chim- you said you told one of your friends about this but did you or your sister tell an adult about this incident? Does your mother know about this? Your sister may be in need of some help for any trauma she may have sustained by this attempted rape. And the proper individuals- including law enforcement- need to be informed about what he did !!

This is about much more than any "fights" that happened afterwards. This is serious stuff and if he tried to do this to your sister- he'll do it again and next time he may succeed. Who knows- he may have done this before. This guy is dangerous, Chim Chim.

Yes, what about these two teenagers in a bus in Plymouth Mass. who were engaging in oral sex in front of the other teenagers?

In Europe, parents are giving condoms to their 12-14 year-old children!

Someone say, we had this in our day, yeah in PUBLIC?

    Hello everybody,

Just wanted to add,Chim Chim's sister is not my daughter. She is a from her father and step mother.Just in case people were thinking.....

I asked her if they were reporting this but Chim, said no.....Her father is a JW as well, but I'll get Chim to see whats going on with her sister.

Thank you for clarifying that Shera. Gawd, what an awful situation.

Even if the 12 year old's father is a JW, someone should be told- a school guidance counselor or better yet- the police. This guy sounds terribly dangerous and these kids are in no position to be handling something like this themselves. And that poor 12 year old girl ! I can only imagine what she is going through.

Shera- since you know about this-maybe if Chim Chim isn't up to reporting this herself, you can. I just would hate to see this guy out there doing this to someone else and nothing being done about any of it all. You may save some other young girl from being hurt or traumatized and may help this current 12 year old get some help in dealing with what she's been through.

    b) video game induced violence is a new, rapidly growing phenomenon

Crap! I play computer games all the time. In the D&D style games I like, I have killed literally thousands of dragons, yet I've never killed even ONE in real life!
