I saw this come up in another topic and was thinkin man that looks like a good excuse if I ever saw one to drink beer and hang out...anyone ever done this sport and um do you drink beer while doing so? Can I get maybe some Canuck help here?

Valis. I Don't curl on a regular basis, but we have done it here, with employees and friends, much like you would have a company golf tournament.
It is a extremely difficult game to play, and sliding yourself down the ice, while occasionally sweeping like a madman, is very exhausting.
The beer thing, seems to be more of a legend than a reality. I've seen softball and bush league hockey players drink way more after their "events"
Brother Valis, this is a very popular sport here in the great northern hinterlands! Although I have never tried it there is a curling rink in my neighbourhood. Having been to this establishment for a stag or two I have noticed the curling faithful enjoying a plenty of the sacred froth and rumor has it that these folk due tend to indulge over the scriptural limitations!
A recent movie was filmed at this location as well called "Men with Brooms" a must rent comedy!

eh xjw...I wish I were going to see you this weekend. But perhaps when you are next in Dallas we can vist one of those ahem "women's museums" together...eheh I do look forward to meeting calamityjane though and I'm sure she will be much more pleasant on my eyes than say.......you. *LOL*
actually I was talking about during play, but it would seem according to your description you would need an extra hand to hold the beer while you skated and brushed the ice...*LOL* I would like to try that some day really. I was also thinking that with so many yuppies and so forth into hockey here, you could put a hockey rink right smack dab in the middle of town and do well. Maybe I could import some of my Canadian friends to teach curling...

I've never done the Curling thing, but I have been known to steal bases in softball with beer in hand.

All this emphasis on curling - if those guys don't include some triceps work, their arm development is going to be lopsided.
Only 1/3 of the mass of the upper arm is biceps, you know.
I do not think that Valis was refering to the act of curling but the sport of curling.
