Another issue that is not black or white.....this is grey area i think.....Depending on your rang in the borg, what you have donated to them, who you are,if your on their good list, and how good of a talker you are, they will decide weather or not you should be punished by having a party..I think they leave alot of things in grey areas. They always say it is up to how "your" conscience is...Then when you make a decission on what "your" conscience is telling you to do....They always call you on it....Unless, like I mentioned earyler and how far up their a** you are...IMPO......

Would people say..." well, in my area...we like to idolize people on their birthday, and put them on a pedastal, and give undue importance to them". Then we have a cake with candles on it so we won't get any demons comin to the party. We have the victim blow on the candles and make a wish we TRUELY believe will come true. After that......we chop off the head of someone and finish the night with a wild orgy".

    LOL at Gumby

LOL. Sadly, at the birthday party we attended yesterday, neither of those things happened.

Yep, I'm saving this one, so when I get caught celebrating my Birthday next time, I can say, well it's not about what it meant 100s of years ago, it's about ME getting PRESENTS!

    haha

Exactly Gumby. Their bday prohibition rests on just such shaky ground, and b-day celebrations are nothing of the kind that they describe - there's no idolizing, no heads rolling, no orgys.

A main concern is, not what it meant hundreds of years ago, but how it is viewed today in your area . Understandably, opinions may vary from one place to another. Hence, it is wise to avoid turning such matters into big issues.

But that is exactly why the WTS forbids the celebrating of birthdays!!!!

The thing that made NO sense to me was that celebrating birthdays was verboten - but celebrating wedding anniversaries (to the point of renting a hall and a live band, and having cake, etc) was okay.

The BS about 'not giving honor' to someone sort of went out the window when they did things like this, I thought.

Especially when you consider that the CS and other big-wigs attended.

    Regards,

    Jim TX

(CS = Circuit Overseer - for the acronym-impaired)
