Is the WT working on any new doctrinal changes

Room 215 I agree with you. But, if the "GB is squirming in discomfort over the 1914 dogma" why do they still print articles about the date?

Granted they no longer go into great detail to prove the date anymore. I would bet that most Witnesses who have been in for less than 8 or 9 years couldn?t even tell anyone how they arrive at the date. In my view they do not have anyone there who could come up with any alternatives that still creates the urgency they need.

I've heard a lot of posters speculate that the JWs will change their views of 1914. I totally disagree. They will keep that date simply because it causes no harm. Gone are any attachments between 1914 and calculations of a "generation." Since 99% of JWs are clueless to the fact that the Society is in total conflict with archaeology on the date for Jerusalem's Babylonian destruction (upon which the 1914 date hangs) there is no pressing reason to change their chronology.

1914 is here to stay, although I wouldn't be surprised if they talked about it less in the years to come.

Look at the 7th Day Adventists. They still apply significance to 1844 (1844!!). Why didn't they change that God foresakin date? Answer: because it doesn't put them behind any eight balls. The same is true with the JWs.

    From www.adventist.org:

(Listed as one of the Adventists primary beliefs)

    23. Christ's Ministry in the Heavenly Sanctuary :
There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle which the Lord set up and not man. In it Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross. He was inaugurated as our great High Priest and began His intercessory ministry at the time of His ascension. In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, He entered the second and last phase of His atoning ministry. It is a work of investigative judgment which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin, typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the Day of Atonement. In that typical service the sanctuary was cleansed with the blood of animal sacrifices

I tend to agree about 1914. Nearly all Witnesses are brain dead zombies - or quietly apathetic types who won't rock the

boat. Accuracy has never been a priority for the Society, so they probably will do nothing.

On the other hand, I continue to wonder how far they can stretch the "faithful and discreet" mythology

especially when they have younger Branch types eager to take the reins from the bony hands of "anointed"

geezers. It wouldn't be that be that big a deal to change this. Most Witleses would hardly notice.

    metatron,

Considering that the Society conjured up a "Nethinim" class of non-annointed ones to "assist" the GB it would not be too great a theological leap to upgrade them to "non-annointed, yet appointed GB" class.

It will happen, friends. Make no mistake about that.

Many of the early Seventhday Adventists were involved in Miller's advent movement that predicted Christ's return in 1843/44. When they formed their own church, they kept the date as the time Christ came to the heavenly sanctuary to "tarry" before returning to earth. "Wrong event and the right time" is how they explained it away. They still look forward to the visible return of Christ in the near future. So, in a sense, they did change their views but incorporated the date.

If changes come in the Watchtower Society, it probably will be initiated by the "new guys on the block." The "annointed" at Bethel are disappearing rapidly. Those professing to be of the "other sheep" will, of necessity, have to take over more responsibility. Changes come easier for younger people who no longer have the close connection with the past.

One of my concerns is about the doctrinal position on blood transfusions. It seems that because of the gradual changes on this doctrine up to allowing minor blood parts, that the WT very likely has decided that blood transfusions is a medical proceedure that is an individual's choice of treatment and not a violation of "bible teachings" enjoined upon christians and it is just a matter of time before the WT chnges their position, as there is a pattern of change relating to Wt position on medical treatments as the Innternet has compiled this showing again and agaon change.

Too bad for Science, it has only been right 100 percent of the time. If this change does occur making blood transfusions a "matter of concience" and Science is right again, and religion has to make another adjustemnt as to what is moral as it relates to Science, in my opinion the credibility of the WT when it gives medical advice will be shattered. I am interested of anyone has any official information as to what the WT actually believss about blood, and if the reason why blood use is still restricted. Is it because of the impact that such a change will have on the org, or is the blood position a sincere one?

There was an insiduous doctrinal change in an Awke mag in the past entitle "EARTHQUAKES AND YOU". The WT previously taught that earthquakes were pasrt of Jesus" compositite sign" as the INsight book comments that frequency and magnitude of earhquakes since 1914 exceeds all previous generations. however the Awake article insidiously adjusts that teaching conceeding that the eartquakes experienced after 1914 were not any greater in frequency or magnitude than ever before, as documented facts show forcing the change. Prior to this article all publications dealing with this subject taught that 1914 gen has had more earhquakes that ever before. This doctrinal change has probably slipped by the average bro and nver studied in any WT study article. The Awake article does say that earhquakes in our time has caused more damge than ever before and insists that hence it part of the sign but explains it so equivically as the new generation definition. But the point is that there is a change forced because of what scientific fact shows Any insiduous changes noted and posted by any of you sharp readers is greatly appreciated.

I honestly cannot see the Society changing their stance on blood. To do so would be extremely unsettling to the rank and file, perhaps moreso than changes about chronology, the FDS, or even the divinity of Christ! It just won't happen.

Further reason why it won't happen: the way technology and medicine is advancing it will only be a matter of time before blood transfusions will be rare for everyone. Science advances and the JWs reap the benefits in this one. Good for us all.

I have heard from other ex-dubs that they never really paid any attention the "the date" thing. So inventing new groups from the OT won't bother them (and hasn't).

The WTS will unfortunately continue. They will get new converts, new light and more buildings. The little flock will have spiritual sons and daughters chosen from heaven where the dead/undead annointed are seated w/Christ, who is obviously not in any hurry for a second coming because of "bla blah xyzin chapter something vs something" which shows how wonderfully blessed we are to have been given this new light which no one else has found.

The blood issue will continue to be watered down. Too late for many. "They died faithful," that statement makes me vomit.

So according to the WTS there are NEVER doctrinal changes, merely new light. There will always be an R/F. There will always be men desiring power over them.
