My advice, don't gamble what you can't afford to lose. Whatever you win over what you brought, keep half, and when you lose the rest, stop. If you can't, run don't walk away from the situation.

I have played cards for money at work, cribbage, pinochle, poker, hearts, etc. I also play in tournaments and with the in-laws (who fight over who will be my partner).

The only game at the casino that is in your favor is blackjack if you can count cards. But even someone with a fairly good system can walk away winners. Next, roulette is almost an even bet against the house. All the rest is "hand your money over to the casino." But if you enjoy it, why not? Just don't bet the house payment or the kid's education money.

I used to play blackjack at the casinos a few years ago, and probably came close to even money, but I stopped because once you learn basic strategy you become a robot with absolutely no decisions to make. Then I learned how to count cards to give myself a statistical advantage (even with very generous house rules, a card counter can only swing the advantage to his side by about 1% to a whopping .5% player advantage.) But casinos have made it very difficult for the card counters. Many of them play with up to 8 decks (so only a miracle will give you a decent positive count) or they've introduced automatic shufflers which makes counting cards impossible.

Roulette only comes close to even money if it is a single zero game. Most casinos have the 00 games, thus a HUGE house advantage.

There is actually one bet in craps that is statistically 50/50, but I cant remember what it is.

    Hmmm

I'll bet you $1 you can't stop gambling

Actually roullette is not a very good game for the player... especially if it's a wheel with 00 on it. Your best odds are baccarrat (you know, the game James Bond would throw money on) but it's terribly terribly boring. Your next best odds are on a craps table if you bet the right way and it's a lot more fun. The odds on a craps table have no house advantage at all. Your best way to play is a line bet and two come bets with full odds, nothing else.

Use your own mind on the matter, are you tired enough yet of having some pin headed religious zealots telling you how you should live your life. Come on get a life!

If not, i've got a set of wind up racing snails...........they go well on pub tables......or poker...........

I'd prefer something less random, like a bar game. The only thing is it would probably descend into a drinking match. On second thoughts, isn't that good?

im not shaving anything I don't normally shave...........

That may be true, Jackie. I haven't played anything other than blackjack in a casino. I find it is important to try the smaller casinos and not draw attention to yourself.

Roulette is more exciting --yes I know the house pays 35 to 1 and there are 38 numbers with the zero and double zero and there is no skill - but it is exciting and gives me a buzz -- probably because it is sinning!
