I too heard from a friend of mine about the closing of halls. There was a local hall that had two attached halls, with two congregations each. Apparently, all the halls have now been combined into one. I had to bite my lip to keep from showing my delight in this good news.
Can anyone confirm this? New congregation consolidation 'unofficial' policy

Yes, my friends with the 50 publishers wanted to consolidate. They said that it was so discouraging to go to the meetings that used to be filled to the gills. The hall I was in and my friends were still there... well it used to be 2 halls with 15 elders and 45 regular pioneers combined. So, they split into 3 halls. Then people started moving to: 1. where the need was great 2. more affordable area to buy a house 3. some just got married and moved out or 4. switched halls due to more kids in the other hall But the CO refused to combine 2 of them together saying that it would be too hard to re-form it when the publisher count went back up and that it was going to go back up because there was a large territory that was not used to coverage and ultimately it would produce fruitage.

Since we all know that the congregations are getting smaller and all the kids are leaving in droves, how can the Society possibly say we're experiencing growth? When JW's read that, don't they question that (even a little bit)?

Before my demise in 1999, two congregations were deleted in Saskatoon, due to low numbers.

The congregation we used to attend has about 100 cards in their file. Meeting attendance is less than 30. My buddy who tells me all of this keeps saying "something is wrong". He hehehehe.

Minimus...I think I love you! Yur sure good for what ails me these days!!! Saskatoon is smack in the middle of Canada. Brrrrrr... Perhaps it was my Jezebel influence that resulted in the demise of the two congregations ...? Hmmmm.... Just rememberin' sumthin' the elders said once or twice... ESTEE

Estee, I've seen your pictures. You're no Jezebel. You're more like Eve----when she was perfect.

Deleted? DELETED? DELETED? You delete stuff on your computer screen. You delete stuff using white out on your printed page. The WTS must be one arrogant piece of crap to refer to a congregation and all those HUMANS and families who spent their time, money and efforts to support it and then say they were "deleted." As if the WTS takes a piece of white out and erases humans like they are a piece of print on paper.
I think I'll puke. Again.
They didn't just close down congregations because they weren't helping the WTS cause. They just didn't encourage the folks to move to another congregation because the current congregation couldn't make the mortgage payments to the mighty WT Corporation. NO! They DELETED the congregation, as if it were some new entry in their accounting ledger: Congregation "xyz" is deleted. Savings: $38,000 per year. Drones re-assigned to Congregation "abc." Should help the bottom line, even though the nearest congregation is 150 miles away. Although this is a very poor area, and most people are just getting by, we're confident that "Jehovah" will provide the gas and that the "brothers" will make the sacrifice to help our balance sheet and profit and loss sheet look better. This is all Bible Based(tm).
Filthy, money mongering Corporate assholes. (Craig if you delete this, I'll mess you up!)

WOW... everyone leaves and then what? Everyone at Patterson gets to split the $$$ and head for Paradise Island? They probably won't do more than liquidate Brooklyn which has got to cost tons of cash every month. They will import
workersbrothers from developing countries to devote years to the publishing company. As an entity they won't go away, they have way too much to collapse. Some enterprizing WTS lawyer will find a way to control the assets, and he'll become the new head of corporate. The very saddest part of the DELETED congregations is that the R/F don't get it, they'll think it's Satan *yadda yadda yadda*, and that they need to work harder, they aren't worthy to have a congregation.
On another note: Our local Methodist church is for sale, they are combining with the next town over --- same thing not enough parishners to support the bills. I just love that old church and if I had the bucks I'd buy it for a womens center (and girl scouts) I'd have doctors speak about womens health issues, and kids health too. Oh well, c'est le vie. I don't think I'd want to buy an ugly old KH.
