Are You Hooked On a Soap?

You know, Mulan, that I am "still familiar" with some of the other shows, like "As The World Turns" and "The Young and The Restless". Even though I haven't tuned in to them in years, I still recognize some of the older actors who have been on there for so long, and I know most of the characters by name. Now and again I see a preview or read something in a magazine.

It's funny how some of these characters are almost like family members--there is such a familiarity about them. A long lasting never-ending story, just like our lives that run parallel. I suppose they have helped many a lonely and frustrated person cope with kids, cooking, dishes, laundry and errands, before such things as "mood pills".

Not since they cancelled Knots Landing. What a great bunch of crap that went on in that cul-de-sac. The Fairgates, The Ewings...that was great TV.

Currently I am hooked on this soap.

Well, I rarely post and since I am choosing to post to this thread, I am quite obviously hooked on a soap! I love General Hospital! If I miss the 3:00pm episode, I can catch it again at 10:00pm or 10:00am the next morning on SoapNet.

The actor, Mike Swan, who is now on Guiding Light, played Macy's father on B&B, I think, works part-time as an RV salesperson. He worked at our store while his he didn't have a story line going. During our Pomona show, Mike flew out from NYC to work the show for 10 days while he was waiting for his part to start on GL. He sure looks different without the beard and gray hair.

I've pretty much been semi-hooked on ABC soaps. But now with all the mafia type story lines with the young people, I have lost touch. Once in a while I will tune in to AMC or GL on CBS.

I so miss the Josh-Reva-Annie storyline when Cynthia Watros played Annie.

I'm hooked on ESPN's Playmakers, about a fictional NFL team. I realized the other day that it's a soap - but it's well acted, so I'll justify it that way...
