JW Supervisor... To Eat or Not to Eat... that is the question!

I have noticed that ever since he found out that I'm an xjw, my supervisor has declined all invitations to go eat where I would be included.

Hmmmmm... Is it just me or do I see a pattern forming?

It's no hair off my ass... he is the one imposing rules on himself. I'm wondering if he will go into JW Martyr mode at the KH. "Yeah... Satan is testing me by having an xjw right there at work with me".

So where does it say that they are not supposed to eat with me anyway?

"not even eating with such a man..." The Bible. LOL! Yeah, he's probably getting major brownie points at the kingdumb hall for not going out to lunch with the wicked xjw.

Matthew 9 (NLT) 10 That night Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to be his dinner guests, along with his fellow tax collectors and many other notorious sinners. 11 The Pharisees were indignant. "Why does your teacher eat with such scum [1] ?" they asked his disciples.

Luke 15 (MSG) 2 The Pharisees and religion scholars were not pleased, not at all pleased. They growled, "He takes in sinners and eats meals with them, treating them like old friends." 3 Their grumbling triggered this story.
4 "Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn't you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? 5 When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, 6 and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, "Celebrate with me! I've found my lost sheep!' 7 Count on it--there's more joy in heaven over one sinner's rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue.

They misapply the scripture where it says "If anyone brings to you a different teaching, do not say a greeting or even eat with such a man. For he who does is a sharer in his wicked works."

So Elsewhere, are you actively bringing this JW a "different" teaching? If what you have amounts to a private difference of opinion over theology, you obviously are NOT promoting some other teaching.

But as per WT Society rules -- they'll find any excuse to erect barriers between their precious followers and the wicked, evil people of this world -- especially poztates.

I'd bake him some cookies if I were you. Or brownies, so you can get brownie points.

    Elsewhere,

Just shows you the hypocrisy of the organization. Do they really know that they make asses of themselves in the public's eye?

When I was a dub, I would have eaten with a DF;d person at work... it is, after all, a work situation, NOT a social situation. However, it's they're way of acting like a dumbass and feeling that they're better than you (which they're not).

My suggestion would be to join his group (if you know someone there) while they';re all eating; just say," mind if I join you all?" and giver! He has no right to let his religious beliefs interfere with work.. if it does, then he has a major problem. Not with you, but with the company. If I were his supervisor, I would either tell him to stop it or put in his resignation. End of story.

I think what you should do is to crash in on a lunch break uninvited and arrange to sit right next to him.

Next you get someone to take your picture together. When the picture is developed get it enlarged and put a copy on your desk at work.

If when he sees the picture his lip starts to quiver and he breaks out in a cold sweat you will know he is being a good JW and shunning you.

Mention casually that your brother,a CO is coming in to chat with you with you with the hope that you will come back into the fold.Invite him to sit in on the conversation since you regard him as not only your boss but a good "friend." Watch the look of panic come over him.ENJOY.

Since he is your boss I guess you can't just ask him why he won't go to lunch when you go to lunch. If he said something like, "you know why" then you'd know why. At that point you might like to remind him that religious prejudice has no place at the workplace.
